In case you thought Disney would let the masculine blond mane of Chris Hemsworth take all the glory in the wake of the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer, Marvel has released a new poster for the film. This one mirrors the first, which depicted Thor holding Stormbreaker while dressed like a wannabe 80s rocker, with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir as the new God of Thunder, or Goddess of Thunder, or whichever one doesn’t make me a racist. For comparison, check out both posters below:
I’m sure my thoughts on this mirror most of yours. It sucks; they’re humiliating Thor yet again; calling Jane Foster “Thor” is like calling every President of the United States “George Washington,” etc. But I think it’s telling how they’re marketing this movie (now that they finally are). The trailer was all about Thor, with Jane only making a brief appearance at the end. Now, this poster comes out after the one with Thor striking a godly pose. They know who everyone wants to see, they know which character is actually popular, and they’re trying to rope people in and get them excited with Hemsworth before dropping the Amidala hammer. We’ll see if it works this summer.
But the best things to come from this are the memes and funny Twitter takes, so let’s console ourselves with a couple. First, our friend Gary from Nerdrotic demonstrates how one-sided these replacements are:

And Sierra Whiskey should be expecting a call from Elon Musk in the near future, as he currently owns Twitter:

What do you think of the Thor: Love and Thunder posters? Are you happy Jane Foster is taking Thor’s hammer and name, which is somehow a title now? Will the Warriors Three be resurrected a trio of glam girls who are gonna show Asgardian gender politics a thing or two?
