On Friday, Rian Johnson announced the name of his next Benoit Blanc mystery in a tweet. Johnson directed the most maligned Star Wars movie ever, as well as the iconic Knives Out and its pretty good follow-up, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The newest installment is called Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and will be distributed by Netflix, just like Glass Onion, which received a one-week theatrical run before arriving on the streaming service. Daniel Craig stars as Benoit Blanc in the locked-room mystery series. Johnson’s tweet says more info will come soon. Check it out here:

I love these movies. I didn’t like Glass Onion quite as much as Knives Out (although my husband did), but I love Benoit Blanc and most of the supporting characters in both movies. I think Johnson and Daniel Craig have both found their wheelhouse with this franchise. I like Craig much more as Blanc than I did as James Bond, for example. And Johnson’s work is more creative and less grating when playing in his own sandbox as opposed to an established, beloved franchise. This is the last Benoit Blanc film that Netflix signed up for, but I’d keep watching these as long as they stay so witty and engaging.
