According to a Deadline exclusive report, Ripley, a limited series starring Andrew Scott, is moving from Showtime to Netflix. The series was slated for a late 2023 release on Showtime. The 8-episode adaptation of the famous series of crime novels by Patricia Highsmith has landed at Netflix following Showtime shopping their shows around in anticipation of merging with Paramount+. Andrew Scott will play the lead role of Tom Ripley, a psychopathic con artist and murderer previously played by Alain Delon in Purple Noon, Dennis Hopper in The American Friend, Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley, John Malkovich in Ripley’s Game, and Barry Pepper in Ripley Under Ground. Ripley is mostly based on the first novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and also stars Dakota Fanning and Johnny Flynn as Marge Sherwood and Dickie Greenleaf, the characters portrayed in the Damon film by Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law, respectively. The series is in “the early stages of post-production.”
