Daniel Richtman, an “industry insider” and respected scooper, has come forward with claims that Elvis director Baz Luhrmann is set to direct a live-action remake of Disney’s Tangled. Despite rumors of this film’s existence and casting, Disney hasn’t commented. Among those rumors, Richtman also alleges that Florence Pugh is being eyed for the role of Rapunzel.
I’ve tried not to comment on the Tangled rumors, but now they’ve gone too far. I won’t argue that Luhrmann is incompetent or anything like that. However, his filmography is not for me by and large, and I don’t think he’s a good fit for a Disney fairy tale romance. Tangled is one of my most favorite Disney movies, and I don’t want to see a remake regardless. However, I can admit Florence Pugh isn’t a bad choice for Rapunzel; she has the round features and big eyes. I’d gladly take her over Amanda Seyfried or a race-swap. I’m okay with race swaps in some instances, but please, not this one!
But what do you think about a live-action Tangled, Baz Luhrmann, or anything else? Let us know in the comments!
