Bespin Bulletin has come through again, leaking photos of a Mandalorian season 2 actor on set for season 3. Simon Kassianides portrayed Bo-Katan Kryze’s follower Axe Woves in season 2, episode 3, “The Heiress.” While he was absent in the season 2 finale, “The Rescue,” despite the inclusion of Bo-Katan and Koska Reeves, it looks like he may well be in season 3. Check out the photos here.
This isn’t huge news, but I did wonder where this character was in the later episodes of season 2, and it’ll be good to see him again. While not totally necessary, it would be cool for them to give him a little more characterization like they did with Sasha Banks’ Koska Reeves. Shout out to Blabbering Collector for bringing to my attention that Banks has said she would not appear in Mando season 3. I think it’s possible she could be playing coy; Lucasfilm’s non-disclosure agreements are notoriously airtight, after all. Anyway, back to Woves; I didn’t even know his name until recently and don’t recall him being named at all in the show. That alone illustrates my point. When I saw these headlines, my first thought was Cara Dune. I should have known better, but that’s what “missing character” says to me. Now that Mando has the Darksaber and Bo-Katan naturally wants it back, I wonder if we’ll see some Mandalorians forced to choose sides. Maybe some of Bo-Katan’s Nite Owls could even join Din Djarin, seeing him as a stronger potential leader. If Koska Reeves takes one side and Axe takes another, that could cause some interesting conflict. Time will tell, and I’m looking forward to season 3 for sure. I just hope they aren’t dead set on tying everything into the sequel trilogy.

I actually liked this character and did wonder why he was MIA for the finale. I think its great he is back.
