Jeff Sneider of the Hot Mic podcast has discussed the possibility of The Mandalorian’s 4th season being reworked into a theatrical film. This film would be separate from the Filoni-helmed Mando-verse movie. Check out what Sneider had to say on the podcast here:
And here’s the blurb from his website:
The Force Awakens? – After a relatively quiet period of news, expect things to heat up on the Star Wars front in the weeks ahead. On today’s episode of The Hot Mic, I revisited a rumor that I shot down several weeks ago — that it looks like the next chapter of The Mandalorian could be heading to the big screen. I’d been operating under the theory that Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars movie would be the next Star Wars movie to go before cameras, but I’m now hearing that the odds are in favor of a different project featuring the further adventures of The Mandalorian characters. Could Jon Favreau be behind the camera of this mystery movie? I think that if you search your feelings… you know it to be true.
I don’t necessarily believe or outright reject the truthfulness of this claim, but I don’t think it’s a good idea. The Mandalorian was much more beloved before its somewhat disastrous third season, so now doesn’t seem like the best time to cash in on that popularity. However, part of me could see Disney doing this. They need money and haven’t had a Star Wars movie in theaters in four years. If they actually do this, it’ll reek of desperation, and I don’t think it would do as well as they might hope. People who loved The Mandalorian may be put off by season 3, and non-viewers and anyone who has fallen behind won’t want to see the movie at all.
But what do you think? Sound off in the comments below!
