A thread to talk about the classic series Castlevania from the original NES games, Symphony of the Night, the Netflix series, to even the DS games like Portrait of Ruin
Okay I got all my stuff pulled out of storage and getting things dusted off and some of these guys put back together. These are getting pretty old now a days. I started collecting Warhammer about 1991. I went with the Vampire Counts, undead army. As I just thought they looked really cool!
I am going to get my table top set up again and I will be doing tons of photos to share with everyone here. I see we have lots of hobby heads and Warhammer fans around here. This is a quick photo I snapped off of just a couple of the dudes I have. There will be much more to come to share. With the full list of figures I have along with how many points and what not. I created lots of custom figures that I fixed together with spare parts. Made some of the skeletons duel wield instead of weapon and shield. Some have 3 heads while others are painted RED inspired by the Castlevania red skeletons that regenerate.
I have different types of zombies and undead, painted each group with a different style. Such as like Desert rotted Zombies, bleached and sun burned. Water logged zombies, zombies who spent to much time underwater and have more bluish tones, Plague zombies, blood zombies… ect. Same with Grave Guards, skeletons and Ghouls. Each are painted with a different theme for their squad. Some skeletons I have missing arms, heads for undead effect.
I have taken box sets of Empire figures and used Skeleton heads on them to turn them into undead custom squads. Chaos Knights who have been raised to serve Vampire Counts. I had tons and tons of different sets that I revamped into undead to give much more flavor to my groups.
As honestly I very rarely ever played the game. I just loved painting them. I can tell you it kept me out of a lot of trouble when I was growing up. And helped me stay clean and sober when I was going through a rough time in my life. These little figures did more for me than just being used to play a game.
It was part of who I was and still is to this day. Granted I have not even touched these in over 13 years now. Glad I was able to find this place and get inspired to pull them out of storage. They should have never been put in there in the first place. As my wife loves all this stuff too. So it is not like she demanded I put them away or sell them. I just figured they were safer in storage than in my house with a little one in the house now. But the boy is getting to the age were he is going to love doing this! As I still have like 35+ figures all sanded and primed just waiting to be painted and put together!
(Trying to post this for the 4th time. haha)
Way late on this but this Forum didn’t exist last year so fuck it.
The 20 games, released last year, I enjoyed the best.
I don’t care what is “technically” better.
Fun factor is the only thing considered because, to me, that’s the only thing that matters.
20. Indivisible: Not as good as I had hoped it would be. The combat is a joke and most of the recruitable characters have no purpose but the character designs, platforming and metroidvania aspects of it are great.
19. Hatsune Miku VR: Not a good game at all but it’s fun to wave your arms around like a jackass while listening to fun Japanese music
18. Erica: Shows that good FMV games can exist. Not the best story ever but does stand out in a genre heavily populated by glorifed memes. haha
17. Death End re;Quest: Fun JRPG with an interesting story line.
16. Remnant: From the Ashes: Rougelite Dark Souls with guns. It’s a thing of beauty
15. Metro Exodus: Extremely solid gameplay, character, story, graphics. Might be the best single player FPS since Wolfenstein: The New Order
14. Devil May Cry 5: I actually liked DMC remake but the return of classic Devil May Cry was certainly welcome. Sexy, stylistic action at it’s finest
13. Blood & Truth: A VR game that lets you feel like you are in an over the top action movie. A few to many cut scenes for my taste but the action set pieces are spectatcular.
12. Control: Everything but the gameplay is trash but the gameplay is so goddamn good I don’t even care.
11. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night: It’s, basically, Castlevania. It’s good.
10.Everybody’s Golf VR: Would have been better with multiplayer and more course but stillm it’s VR golf done, near, perfectly.
9. Dead or Alive 6: I love this series for the wrong reasons and the right reasons. The gameplay is solid as fuck and very enjoyable to engage in. It’s also very nice to see certain characters engaging in that gameplay. Would have been higher if they hadn’t released it like 1 month before the best fighting game ever made.
8. Super Neptunia RPG: I love most entries in the Neptunia series and this might be my favorite
7. Resident Evil 2: Very solid remake that kept to the spirit of the original. Sadly, the same cant be said for RE3 (or, as I like call it, RE Resistance’s single player)
6. Trover Saves the Universe: I love Justin Roland’s humor. I love VR. I would have been surprised if I didn’t like this game.
5. Code Vein: Anime Souls
4. Kill La Kill -IF: The first Arena Figher I’ve ever enjoyed. And it’s based on my favorite Anime. Win-win.
3. The Outer Worlds: Proves Bethesda is not needed anymore.
2. Mortal Kombat 11: The story is woke, retconning trash (and I’m still annoyed Melina wasn’t included) but it’s the most fun fighting game I’ve ever played.
1. Greedfall: Proves Bioware is no longer needed (unless you’re a AAA slave that thinks graphics are everything).
