*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*
A leak from Bespin Bulletin alleges that The Mandalorian season 3 will feature the Praetorian Guards from The Last Jedi. Set images also show red Mandalorian-inspired helmets, a mysterious corridor, and what looks like some type of vehicle. These images are unconfirmed and come with no additional information. Check them out here, courtesy of Bespin Bulletin:
Two of these three images mean very little without any context. The corridor and pod-type vehicle look well put-together, as we have come to expect from The Mandalorian. I just don’t have much else to say about them without more info. The big news here concerns the Mandalorian-style helmets, and the Praetorian Guard Bespin Bulletin alleges we will see alongside them. This looks to be yet another clue that Disney, Lucasfilm, Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni are going all-in on the sequel trilogy. What a shame. The idea of Mandalorian Sith, or any other kind of evil-aligned Mandos, is actually pretty cool. I would be intrigued by these helmets alone.
The problem is, I don’t want any further sequel-era content, much less for an excellent show to be bogged down with such nonsense. I can ignore something like Resistance for the most part, but injecting a series I love with sequel storylines really hurts. The inclusion of Snoke’s guards means we may even see him, or at least that we can’t ignore his existence while watching The Mandalorian. From a creative standpoint and a financial one, I don’t understand the insistence upon elevating the sequel trilogy. You have two camps here: people who like these movies and people who don’t. Sequel fans don’t need to be convinced from Disney’s point of view. In my opinion, tying these poorly conceived properties to the wildly successful Mandalorian will only further alienate sequel critics. These movies are not good, they don’t represent anything I recognize as Star Wars, and co-opting one of my favorite shows on their behalf will only further annoy me.
What do you make of the photos? Does this mean Snoke is on his way to Mandalore? Let us know in the comments!
To be fair helmets actually look awesome; I hope they won’t reference sequel trilogy in any way though. Though, the Praetorian guards were the ONLY thing that I actually liked in the sequels.
