Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially moved to the number one highest-grossing Sony movie of all time, taking over for previous top earner Spider-Man: Far From Home.
According to The Numbers, No Way Home has currently brought in $516,381,855 domestically and $1,161,281,855 worldwide. Far From Home ended it’s box office run with $390,532,085 domestically and $1,132,532,832 worldwide.
Sony’s closest domestic box office earners behind No Way Home are Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, sitting at $404,508,916, and Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man, which amassed $403,706,375. The only other Sony movie to make over a billion dollars at the box office is 2012’s Skyfall, with $1,110,526,981.
In the MCU ranks, No Way Home is now sitting in the top five for domestic box office, while its worldwide total currently places it seventh. As No Way Home continues to break box office records during the holiday period, there is no doubt this number will climb over the coming weeks and months until the end of its run.
Marvel’s deal with Sony for movie rights to Spider-Man has benefitted both parties, with Marvel being able to use one of their most iconic characters in their shared Marvel Cinematic Universe while also retaining merchandising rights. Meanwhile, Sony can rake in record amounts of box office revenue to use on future projects.
