The man who started the Arrowverse will be there for its end. Giant Freakin Robot exclusively reported that Stephen Amell would return as Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, for the final season of The Flash, presumably the big series finale. At first, this seemed a little iffy, but then Amell himself confirmed the news on Twitter:
Of course I’m coming back. pic.twitter.com/T3uwq89JYW

This complements an announcement from the CW that some other familiar faces would be popping up for The Flash’s last run – namely David Ramsey as John Diggle, Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as wasted villain Bloodwork. How these guys will figure into the story, or what the plot of the final season will be, is unknown, but the producers are pulling out all the stops for the Arrowverse’s last hurrah.
I’m glad Amell is coming back. Not only was he great as the character, especially as he grew into the role, but I loved his friendship with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen, which felt like the center of the Arrowverse. Each of the big verse-wide crossovers ended with the two of them taking stock of the world they lived in, the burden they shared, and the bond they’d forged, and it was just the right button for each one. Then, as part of the massive missed opportunity that was their adaptation of “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” the CW killed off Oliver Queen in a moment that was clearly meant to rip off echo Tony Stark’s ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame, except without the weight of it having actually accomplished something.
That raises the question of how Oliver will return. I hope they don’t make this some alternate-universe variant of Oliver; we need to feel the history between him and Barry, not have some lazy explanation for how he’s back. (Plus, Oliver destroyed all the other universes when he died – except not really because Superman & Lois takes place on another Earth; it’s very confusing and contradictory and stupid.) But Oliver seems to exist on some other Earth based on the final moments of the Arrow finale, with Felicity at his side. Is he really dead, or is he just trapped in another world? They never really explained it because they didn’t care anymore at that point, but I guess we’re about to find out for sure. It would be great if they redeem Oliver and give him a worthy sendoff rather than just scraping him into the trash, and teaming up with Barry to save the world again could fit that bill. And they need to get some of the Arrow stunt team back for fight scenes. Come on, guys – don’t fail this character.
Yeah, I’d love to see him in some other things. He’s more than proven he can do action. Those 87North dudes should hook him up with something.
I used to watch his workout videos on youtube. He did Parkour is some padded gym room, along with his weights and stuff. Very mixed fusion type things. I always liked this guy. He’s another one like Henry Cavill, who should have been bigger and done so much more, but again, play the cards you are given as an actor. Don’t be a fool. Take the job if you need the work and exposure.
