SWCE: Lucasfilm Publishing and High Republic Highlights

This is your catch-up on the Lucasfilm Publishing and High Republic panels at Celebration. While not as flashy as the film and Disney+ announcements, the publishing side at Lucasfilm has its followers. Let’s look at some of the highlights.

Vernestra Rwoh will be making the jump from the page to the screen. “Vern” will appear in The Acolyte, portrayed by actress Rebecca Henderson. Doctor Aphra writer Alyssa Wong will join the High Republic team by contributing a short story to Tales of Light and Life, a YA anthology book.

Phase III of The High Republic will kick off with author George Mann’s adult novel The Eye of Darkness. The story returns to the Nihil and takes place a year after the fall of Starlight Beacon. Marvel’s comic series Star Wars: The High Republic will continue. The first issue of Phase III comes out this December. Meanwhile, Star Wars Insider will again contain short fiction, this time by author Lydia Kang. Finally, Phase II will end with Night of Sorrow, and a sneak peek of the upcoming Viz manga, Star Wars: The High Republic: Edge of Balance: Precedent, was shared.

At this panel, the existence of the Timelines book was reiterated. We already knew about this; it is precisely what it sounds like, sorting out the canon timeline events. Star Wars:100 Objects by Kristin Baver is a similar guide for important items in the galaxy. A Jedi: Survivor art book is coming in December. From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi will contain stories starring Sy Snoodles and Enric Pryde.

A High Republic character encyclopedia is coming. Art for Secrets of the Wookies was shared. High Republic Wookie Jedi Burryaga will return, and Young Jedi Adventures is getting a book titled Jedi Training. Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook is coming. Flip-pops of Boba Fett and Darth Vader are on the way.

And that’s it, bar a couple of redundancies, like re-announcing the Timelines guidebook. What do you think of these announcements, and will you be checking out any of the new books and comics? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
