Sweet Baby Inc. Fires Chris Kindred

Gamergate 2 is not going the way the people who instigated it (or, at least, they think they did) thought it would go. You’ll recall it began when Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League failed spectacularly after being exposed as a woke middle finger to DC Comics that destroyed the beloved Arkham video game universe and literally (and I mean literally) urinated on its corpse. This was what inspired Kabrutus to look into Sweet Baby Inc., the DEI consulting firm Rocksteady hired to help them make the game the best it could poss… okay, that’s not true; they were hired to make it palatable to “modern audiences,” the group consisting of Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and the people who demanded an Ironheart show. Kabrutus created Sweet Baby Inc. Detected, a Steam curator that flagged games Sweet Baby Inc. consulted on, to warn gamers that they were in for a heaping dose of woke. Then, the other side retaliated, and the most glaring example of it was Chris Kindred, a Sweet Baby Inc. employee, calling for Kabrutus and his curator to be mass-flagged and canceled. It didn’t work, of course, but it pissed a lot of people off, and the media declared Gamergate 2 in full swing. (Image courtesy of Niche Gamer.)

Chris Kindred, Sweet Baby Inc, Kabrutus

Well, it looks like the gamers are winning. According to a video from Gothic Therapy, a YouTube channel run by bot hunter extraordinaire Master of the TDS and his wife, Writing Raven, Chris Kindred has been fired from Sweet Baby Inc. This information comes to them from a Sweet Baby Inc. insider (who, TDS stresses, is not an anonymous source but someone he knows personally) who told them that Kindred was “quietly pushed out” at the behest of a significant number of Sweet Baby Inc. employees who were angry at what Kindred did to Kabrutus and lobbied CEO Kim Belair and the other higher-ups to get rid of him. However, the firing was not made public, and Kindred still says he’s a narrative designer at Sweet Baby Inc. in his X bio. Despite this, TDS says he can 100% confirm that his source is correct, and Chris Kindred is no longer with the consulting firm. You can see the Gothic Therapy video below:

That is very interesting. My assumption upon seeing this headline was that one of two things happened. Either Sweet Baby Inc. was trying to clean up its image – which would gel with their recent scrubbing of their website – by getting rid of their most hated member, or Chris Kindred had become too much of a liability in going after not only Kabrutus buy Jeff of Smash JT, whose former employee Kindred called in an effort to make trouble for Jeff. But if Master of the TDS and Writing Raven are right, and they’re so certain that it’s safe to assume they are (TDS seems like a careful guy), there are a decent number of people at Sweet Baby Inc. who aren’t as terrible as Kindred, Kim Belair, and almost certainly some others. I’m sure they’re wokesters to some extent, but maybe Kindred’s actions went too far over the line of human decency for them to be silent. Cancel culture is awful, and good people don’t want to be associated with it, especially when it targets someone’s livelihood. What Kindred tried to do to Kabrutus was bad enough, but I suspect it was his contacting Jeff’s old job that pushed them over the edge. It’s evil, and it had to have been a lot of people for someone like Kim Belair, who encouraged video game studio employees to “terrify” their marketing departments into hiring Sweet Baby Inc., to get rid of Kindred. I’m sure games journalists are having conniptions over this, and it’ll be fascinating to see where their Gamergate 2 goes from here.
