Collider reports that Disney and Lucasfilm have set a premiere window of summer 2024 for the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte. Many had theorized a similar time frame, as The Bad Batch starts this month and runs 15ish episodes, and Andor has been pushed to next year. The Acolyte was created by Leslye Headland and takes place 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, at the tail end of the High Republic time period. The series is being billed as a “mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”
I really wish we were getting Andor next, as I just don’t know how to feel about The Acolyte or even Skeleton Crew. I’ve tried to give The Acolyte the benefit of the doubt, but as we get closer to its apparent air date, I don’t know what to make of it. If I’m not mistaken, all we have is a short synopsis, a logo, and a leaked sizzle reel from Star Wars Celebration. I hope it’s good, but we’ll have to wait and see, as usual.
But what do you think? Are you looking forward to The Acolyte? Let us know in the comments!
