Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, the first of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, will be back in theaters on the weekend of May the 4th to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary. The release is listed as being “for a limited time,” so if you want to see this movie on the big screen, that weekend is your safest bet. The re-release comes with a brand new poster from artist Matt Ferguson, which you can check out here:
It feels like many films are being re-released lately; whenever I check my Regal app, I see more of these under “coming soon” than brand new movies. It leads one to wonder if re-releasing older movies brings in more money. I actually would like to see this, as I was four years old when The Phantom Menace originally came out. I only remember seeing Revenge of the Sith in theaters. I have to say it would help Lucasfilm if they came out with new movies that people like; then they wouldn’t have to rely on screening older movies and milking Baby Yoda.
But what do you think? Will you catch a 25th anniversary screening of The Phantom Menace? Let us know in the comments!
