If you thought the Rippaverse had reached its peak, you’re in for a surprise. The indie comic book label started by Eric July has seen massive success with its comic books, such as Isom, Yaira, Alphacore, and Goodyng: The Polymath, with work from comic book legends like Chuck Dixon, Mike Baron, and the Soska Sisters. Last year, the Rippaverse debuted its fulfillment service called Rippasend, which acts as a publisher, delivery service, campaign host, or just a consultant based on the individual client’s needs. (Their first client was Geeks + Gamers’ own Jay “Drunk 3PO” David, whose Achromatic Chronicles books more than doubled their campaign goal!) Now, the Rippaverse is partnering with a heavy hitter: Angel Studios, the production company behind the hit films Sound of Freedom and Cabrini. Through Rippasend, the Rippaverse will publish the manga for Angel Studios’ new animated series, Gabriel and the Guardians.
Rippaverse, through @RippaSend, is the official publisher of the @GatGTVSeries manga!
Based on the animated series from @AngelStudiosInc, it features @johnnyyongbosch, @CristinaVee, and @MattLanter.

Gabriel and the Guardians is based on the stories of the angels from The Bible and follows Gabriel as he goes to “the mortal realm” to battle the Nephilim, powerful giants from the Old Testament, and save Creation from their spreading evil. Like all of Angel Studios’ releases, there are clearly Christian themes, but the studio has become so successful in recent years because their movies are designed to be entertaining, mainstream movies as opposed to thinly veiled lectures. Sound of Freedom was a thriller first and foremost, while Cabrini was a drama about a very human character; their messages were delivered via the story, not in spite of it. Based on the trailer, Gabriel and the Guardians is an animated fantasy adventure made out of the Old Testament stories of angels and mystical creatures that once roamed the Earth, once again putting entertainment first. The series features the voices of Johnny Yong Bosch (the second black ranger on Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers), Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker on Star Wars: The Clone Wars), James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi on Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Cristina Vee (Riven in League of Legends), and Cristina Milizia (Amumu, Annie, and Nunu in League of Legends). You can see the trailer below:
Partnering with Angel Studios is a big deal for the Rippaverse. This is the studio that beat Disney at the box office in 2023 with a movie some theaters refused to show and the mainstream media was determined to dissuade people from watching. They’ve become a major player in the entertainment industry in a relatively short time – but, then, so has the Rippaverse. Each of their comic book campaigns has eclipsed their sales target many times over, as have Jay’s Achromatic Chronicles books. It was inevitable that they would get noticed, and their philosophy of pleasing the customer and focusing on entertainment makes them a perfect fit for Angel Studios in their first venture into comics, specifically manga. And getting a client like this is going to be beneficial to the Rippaverse, exposing the company to customers who probably haven’t heard of them but will follow Angel Studios anywhere. Likewise, the Rippaverse has its own devoted fandom, and a new medium facilitated by the Rippaverse and Rippasend will likewise open up Angel Studios to even more customers. It’s satisfying to see the Rippaverse keep growing, not just as a comic label but as a publisher and driver of other independent media. Slowly, the little guys are working their way into the mainstream, and the Rippaverse and Angel Studios are among the leaders in that revolution.
There’s no timeline for the Gabriel and the Guardians manga yet, but you can keep yourself updated by following the Rippaverse on X and bookmarking the official Rippasend page for Gabriel and the Guardians. If you’re an Angel Guild member, you can watch the first episode of Gabriel and the Guardians on the Angel Studios website. You can also follow Angel Studios and Gabriel and the Guardians on X.

Yeah, this is a huge deal for them. I think Monteverde’s attitude is exactly why Angel Studios has ascended; they’re making art first and letting the message speak for itself. That’s the way movies used to be made, until the lunatics took control of the asylum in Hollywood. I’m glad to see both of these companies grow.
Wow. This is big time for Eric. The people behind that studio are beyond impressive. Top quality of caliber people. This is actually huge. To do it in Manga, too? Geez.
I enjoyed Cabrini and was hoping that Angel Studios was the next big thing with their “focus on the light” credo. I also went to see the movie Sight and it was well done. Would recommend that Angel check out both Nefarious and Jesus Revolution and try to get those teams to work on things for their studio. See if they can poach talented people of faith. The director of Cabrini and Sound of Freedom is Alejandro Monteverde, and he has tools and chops and is underrated. He rejects the faith-based label and just considers himself an artist. He may never get the recognition, but I think he’s a top director.
If July didn’t have haters before, he definitely will now that he is rubbing elbows with that impressive group of people. If I’m being honest, I’m kind of jelly. Angel Studios as a client? Kind of thing one prays for.
