I started reading the light novels to this series a few months ago, and I thought that if it could be animated well, it should be a series worth seeing. And half-way through the season, it has been.

The story deals with some very heady question, such as the dehumanizing of people with certain kinds of difference. And it doesn’t spoon feed the story to the viewer.

One of the big things it pulls off is how it deals with two different groups of people who are far apart, connected only by a kind of mind-reading technology, and who have led very different lives, and how it deals with their difficulties in really understanding each other.

And there’s the action. It’s a bit of a variation on the mech kind of anime, in this case the characters pilot machines that resemble insects or spiders, and they battle against an automated army.

Anyway, so far, I’ve been very happy with how they’ve adapted the story to anime. Hope the season ends strong.
