I have a fairly strict no movies after 2010 policy because that is the line in the sand year that Hollywood decided to make nothing but propaganda.  I only violate this rule for a movie that gets rave reviews from people I know or watch.

I decided to watch this movie because it was on the border of 2010 and it has Charlize Theron who is a great actress.   It also had in it Paton Oswald who is typically very funny.

Well, this movie was horrible.  It was depressing and sad and at the end I wondered why this was made. I kept watching it waiting for the big life lesson or ah ha moment.  It never came.

This seems to have been written by someone who is deeply unhappy and unfulfilled and they don’t know why.  And at the point they decide they cannot understand this unhappiness they just lash out at anything they wish they had and everyone they perceived as having the contentment they longed for.

I figure this movie probably resonates with many people today as this is essentially the silent internal struggle of many “modern” people.

This movie was not bad because of the actors.  It was bad because of the writing.  In fact Theron did an awesome job because she absolutely came off as deeply miserable.
