This arrived today, and I’m totally thrilled and in my happy place.
Original run.
No dirty Legends tag.
Awesome!
I too refuse to buy anything with “legend” written on it.
To me, they are all George Lucas APPROVED CANON.
Great book.
What Cowgirl Dave did to Dathomir still annoys me. Its not a red clay wastland.
Wow, that’s so cool! I’d love to start collecting the EU books, but where i am they’re really hard to find at a good price, even harder to find a non legends print
I’m curious, what was Dathomir like in the EU?

To use Star Trek terms, normal Class M planet with forests, bodies of water, etc. Only thing is…actual Dathomir, not Filonimir, is crawling with rancors, and Zabraks do not exist. All Force Witches, light and dark.
Ok, so no zabraks, which is what Maul’s suppost to be in The Clone Wars, so does Maul still come from Dathomir or is he from a different planet in the EU? And if not zabrak, what species is he?
Force Witches, that’s still Ventress’s species?

I honestly have no idea where Maul came from, because I never read the Maul book. Ventress, again, before Filoni got to her, I would have said she’s a Rattataki, not a Night Sister. Dathomiri witches in regular EU look like normal humans. Light side witches basically are like amazons and ride rancors. So, hot chicks on rancors. Night Sisters look worse, because they suffer from Dark Side corruption that eats away at their physical forms.
From google: “The Rattataki were a Near-Human species characterized by their chalk-white skin and bald heads. Virtually isolated from the rest of the galaxy, the Rattataki developed a violent society on their home planet of Rattatak, which involved extensive gladiatorial combat.”
Yup, that sounds like Ventress
Night Sisters look worse, because they suffer from Dark Side corruption that eats away at their physical forms.
Hey, that’s exactly what happens when humans here on earth are a-holes, they look f***ing terrible 🤣🤣
Now my brain’s going into theory mode though, so the Night Sisters in The Clone Wars could be rattataki who migrated to Dathomir to become evil witches… does that make any sense??
Dathomir in the books was a lush vibrant planet as Roas described. The population were human in all respects and many had force abilities. The planet was a matriarchal scociety where men were a slave class used for labor and breeding.
Mechanical stuff tended to fail quickly. I think it was due somewhat to the humidity but it may have been some other form of atmospheric radiation. due to this Lukes lightsaber and hand both failed during an ambush and he was bested by a young woman. This woman was eventually convinced to let him go and marry the royal heir of the Happs Concortium & her daughter later became the queen over some 1000 (or was it 15000) worlds. Tenal Ka was also a jedi & the wife in all but name to Jacen Solo. The biggest reason he went Sith was to protect his wife & daughter… just like Anakin did.
When dathomiri force users tap into the dark side they start bruising. The more they draw the worse they get marked. Those marked are generally expelled from the tribes and are forced to live on their own; they then get gathered up by tribes of force users who have gone evil.
I dont recall what planet Zabraks came from. I do recall a line from KotR2 where the one in game said that the females didnt have the cranial horns & had hair instead.
Just a quick comment, in Legends Ventress was indeed from Rattatak and Maul was from Iridonia like all Zabraks.
Another good day. This arrived a few days ago, but first got around to opening it up today.
Perfect condition.
Not one of the strongest books, but did a great job of showing how unsure of himself Luke was as the only Jedi out there just days after the Battle of Endor. It also does have a fantastic scene of Leia and Force Ghost Anakin. Only one in the entire EU.
Unfortunately this does it for me and reacquiring the remaining books I’m missing for the time being. The Thrawn hardcovers are too expensive for what I’m willing to spend right now. Dark Empire also. And tracking down the first two volumes of the Jedi Academy Trilogy without a Legends tag is going to be a challenge.
This arrived today.
No ugly Legends tag here.
This is what it means to get the feels for Star Wars. Seeing our original heroes, together for one last time, 45 years after the Battle of Yavin. Look at that art! Beautiful!
The main storyline of the EU finishes with this. Once I reacquire what I’m missing, I’m going to sit down and read everything from beginning to end.
I was really looking forward to the books Crusible set up.
Sword of the Jedi, Ben tracking down Vestara and their story…
But instead we got the NOT-Lucasfilm books and the Farce Awakens.
I will admit to having read the Ahsoka book… It was really really bad…
