Tagged: TV Shows
I’m not a huge movie watcher because I don’t like the modern movie making formula (sensory overload the audience with constant action to hide the terrible plot) so I instead watch TV shows. Here are list of great shows that I have seen over the years that I would recommend that everyone see. Feel free to add to or discuss my list.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Peaky Blinders (I can’t speak for the seasons beyond 3 as I haven’t seen them)
The Expanse
Battlestar Galactica Reimagined
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
The Witcher
Hello theschnick, this is a great list of television shows that you have here. I do think that Daredevil (Netflix) should be considered in the list of great TV shows. X-men: the Animated Series is another popular show that had a great run. Batman: the Animated Series was a pretty good show that I would recommend. Avatar: The Last Airbender would be the final show that I would recommend to this list. I hope that this list of shows helps add to your list. If you have not seen these shows then check them out when you have the opportunity.
Vikings (Season 1-4) (Everything after sucks)
Spartacus Blood and Sand (Season 1)
Spartacus Gods of the Arena (Prequel Season)
Roman Empire (Netflix)
I have some honorable mentions. These are shows that I felt started very strong but the plot fell apart for me and I stopped watching or it ended poorly.
Vikings:
After season one. It got too dramatic for drama’s sake for me.
Man in the High Castle:
The show is a very good slow burn to a satisfying finish each season until season 3 which feels like two seasons mashed together. This likely happened because the show runners were told that they were only going to get one more season. I haven’t seen season 4 from start to finish but I have watched a few in-depth reviews and it has more dropped plot points than the Sequel trilogy. I would watch season 1-3, then watch some of John Smith and Kido’s clips on Youtube.
Game of Thrones:
Well… you know…
Rome:
The first season is very great but it got canceled and the second season is very rushed. It is still worth watching.
Vikings Season 1-4 is great. You should keep watching. But stop after season 4. It gets really bad.
I absolutely love
Stargate SG-1
Stargate Atlantis
Stargate Uni… nah jk.
The Americans, Atlanta, Baskets, Bates Motel, Better Call Saul, Black Sails, Bloodline (Season One), Bob’s Burgers, Breaking Bad, Broadchurch, Daredevil, The Exorcist (Season One), Fargo, Farscape, Halt and Catch Fire, Hannibal, The Kids in the Hall, Leave it to Beaver, Little House on the Prairie, Mad Men, Mr.Robot, Ozark, Peaky Blinders, Pushing Daisies, Snowfall, South Park, The Strain (dumb fun), Stranger Things, Taboo, True Detective (Season One), The Wire
I’m going to say Cobra Kai is the best show out there right now. It’s the perfect example of honoring the source material while continuing the story. Plus it shines as being anti-pc. I would recommend it to anyone here.
A little more classic I loved Babylon 5. The idea of a continuing story arc with a pre-planned ending really paved the way for all the television we have now. I *think* it is currently available on Amazon Prime.
Batman: The Animated Series
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Breaking Bad
Game Of Thrones (except Seasons 5,7,8)
Justice League: The Animated Series
Family Guy
Twin Peaks
Better Call Saul
Young Pope
Avatar: The Last Airbender
G.L.O.W.
Ozark
Waco
Maniac
UFO
Babylon 5
Real Star Trek (so definitely not Discovery and while I liked Picard but it wasn’t great)
Proper Dr Who (Hartnell to McGann)
Ash vs Evil Dead
Stan Against Evil
Gravity Falls
Here’s a few shows off the top of my head
– Sons of Anarchy (one of my all-time favorites)
– Better Call Saul
– Breaking Bad
– Dark (Netflix)
– Bloodline (first 2 seasons are phenomenal)
– Broadchurch (not an easy watch for parents)
– Waco
I don’t know how I managed to miss off Dark Matter. SyFy may have killed the show but it lives on in my heart. Killjoys was also great and at least that got a full five season run to finish the story.
Cowboy Bebop is fantastic. And even though Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD can be quite ridiculous and a bit too low-budget for what they attempt to achieve, the writing is usually extremely good and creative.
Some others that I quite like but are more commonly mentioned are Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Peaky Blinders.
