A Texas man reported missing as a teen 8 years ago has been at home with his mom all along, police say

A Texas man reported missing eight years ago as a teen actually returned home a day later and has been there all along with his mother, who deceived police by giving fake names and insisting he was gone in the years before his discovery last week at a Houston church, city police said Thursday.

    WTF?

While Houston officers had interacted since then with (the Texan man) and his mother, both provided fake names and dates of birth, misleading officers, he said.

His mother “continued to deceive police by remaining adamant that (her son) was still missing,” he said.

    Why would they do that?

Where they still acting as mother/son, or some other relationship?

The district attorney “has declined any charges at this time for making fictitious reports and failure to ID,” (Lt. Christopher) Zamora said, adding, “The investigation is active, and there are new leads coming in. We’ll continue to follow those leads.”

Isn’t there laws about given false testimony?  Lying to police?

Thursday’s update by Houston Police comes a week after authorities said Farias was found sleeping in front of an east Houston church – and more than eight years after he purportedly went missing on March 6, 2015, according to a flyer from the Texas Center for the Missing. The then-17-year-old vanished while walking his two dogs in northwest Houston, CNN affiliate KHOU reported.

Something else must be going on in the household, other why all the lies and then this discovery at the church.

While in another article this was mentioned:

Farias had actually been held captive by his mother while she abused and lied to him, including claims she forced her son to sleep in bed with her without clothes, would often lock him in a room, and gave him “hallucination drugs, mushrooms” and more.

So it looks like the possible charges are more serious than just lying to police/making a false report.

Abuse (and possibly sexual abuse too), kidnapping, torture, etc.

    Truly sad it true.

Every now and then you hear a strange story like this that makes no sense whatsoever.  I always assume when this is the case it sounds insane because we don’t know all the facts AND whatever went on probably was some level of insanity.  I am sure whatever went on here was not good and  the only reason articles are written about it so they can be made into clickbait unfortunately.
