ACG is a game reviewer on YouTube. He’s also on Twitch and has a gaming podcast. In his latest podcast he pretty much trashes Metacritic. He doesn’t like people review bombing The Last of Us Part 2. He also came out with a YouTube video talking about reviews. He seems to be kind of woke. What he fails to realise is the negative reviews are valid. And that its a bigger thing than just one game. People are tired of this woke bullshit being forced on us. We play games and watch movies for escapism. That’s being taken away from us because of games like The Last of Us Part 2…. People are tired of IGN giving trash games 10/10 because they promote a political message they support. People want fair and honest reviews. We aren’t getting that so people review bomb to counter it. Some think that people that review bomb this game are homophobic. I think most people support gay rights. But that doesn’t mean they want it forced on them in a game. That doesn’t make them homophobic.. ACG does some good game reviews but he’s part of the problem. He often fails to criticize games for some major flaws they have. Even good games have problems.
I checked out some of the user reviews to evaluate their legitamacy. Many of those user reviews on Metacritic who submitted a low score actually did buy and play the game, and they attempted to give the game a fair chance before drawing their negative conclusions.
A lot of those user ratings are legit. IMO that’s a tragedy. This could have been, should have been, another great game.
As for ACG, I found his video titled “Context in Video Game Reviews”. He clearly misunderstands the point of Digital Foundry. DF doesn’t review games; they analyze technical specs. I’ve never watched any of ACGs videos before. It seemed he had drawn a conclusion first, then crafted a series of points to support it, with a lot of metaphors and hyperbole thrown in. Many users reviews actually DO mention sound and/or voice acting, though he implied otherwise. I wasn’t impressed by his style, didn’t subscribe.
In contrast, this channel takes a more fair and balanced approach, actually reading some of those user reviews in the video to support conclusions:
Was THE LAST OF US PART 2 actually REVIEW BOMBED?
