MLS vs. Liga MX All-Star game in LA. Is a merger between the two leagues on the horizon?
The two top domestic soccer leagues in North America – Major League Soccer and Liga MX – finally will settle once and for all (well, that might be a bit of a stretch) which has the best players when their highly anticipated All-Star showdown takes place Wednesday …
Any time you have an All-Star game, promoting the best of you best, is a good thing.
Is there a further step to be taken in the relationship between the two leagues? Could the two leagues ultimately merge into one massive North American league?
WTF?
That is taking a JUMP in logic, IMO.
“I think the potential in the United States and Mexico is enormous, each country by itself,” FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino said in March. “But, of course, if you could bring those two together that would be incredible and that could quite well be the best league in the world.”
Are you kidding? The best league in the world?
It would be quite something if Liga MX and MLS merged to form a three-country, 40-plus team league.
Most football leagues do not have that many teams on one tier. Does this mean the leagues are looking at creating a tiered league (even thought North America does not have promotion and relegation).
Personally, this I see as a sports writing wanting to make a story when there is none to be had.
Sounds like a story for Sports Wars. https://www.youtube.com/c/SportsWarsNetwork/videos I like Liga MX and especially the Mex national team and their style of transition play, which is just push really hard, cross and shoot. It reminds me of transition basketball. I am not into sports at all anymore though, but am looking forward to Robert Barnes on Sports Wars. https://www.youtube.com/c/SportsWarsNetwork/videos
I can’t believe Jeremy and Robert Barnes hit it off. Do you know that Barnes defended Wesley Snipes? He also is defending Kyle Rittenhouse.
