What’s everyone’s favorite recent mini console? I haven’t yet gotten my hands on a Turbografx-16 mini, but out of the ones I do have, I think my favorite is the Genesis mini. While the Super Nintendo probably has a larger amount of timeless classics, I think the Genesis has it beat in overall number of quality titles, featuring almost twice as many games as the SNES mini.
SNES mini gets my vote. I had issues with some games like Chrono Trigger not making the list, but they included expensive RPGs like EarthBound. Final Fantasy 6, Secret of Mana, and Mario RPG also add a ton of overall playtime to the package. Plus, Star Fox 2! A game we never got to see in a series that I think is pretty underrated. I’m also mostly a Nintendo fanboy. :D
I really do like the Genesis mini. I don’t play RPGs as much now so the lineup of games like Darius, Thunder Force III, and Super Fantasy Zone is more my speed. Plus, Castlevania: Blood Lines and Contra: Hard Corps need some more love. Then they have 3 of my most nostalgic games ever: Earthworm Jim, Road Rash II and Sonic Spinball!
I’ve got NES mini, SNES mini, PS1 Classic Mini and Sega MegaDrive Mini. I love all of them (yes, even the PS).
I strongly advise for everyone to grab them while you can. Those things are long-lasting and soon may be hard to find.
My biggest issue with the PS1 mini is that it used a lot of the PAL versions of games, which feature choppy frame rate and some really awful slowdown. Tekken 3 in particular is totally butchered.
I played the crap out of Super Puzzle Fighter 2 though.
PS1 as it’s so easy to mod.
If only I could get MvC2 and SF3: 3rd Strike running on it, I’d be set.
My personal grudge with is the controllers without sticks. Just can’t play some games on classic ones.
You can use PS3 & PS4 controllers on it too.
How?
USB charging cables…but then again I was using a Dual Shock 4 while running Autobleem, though I’m fairly certain they’ll work regardless.
Also, if I’m not mistaken the latest build of Autobleem even allows you to run a bluetooth dongle for wireless.
