Black Legion is one my favorite book from Black Library.
It set in Warhammer 40,000 universe and part 2 in the series. I still need to read Talons of Horus book.
It about the forming of the Black Legion from the view of Iskandar Khayon.
I also have The Horus heresy audio books that enjoy listening on the road.
I have a large collection of Black Library books. Not really surprising since I’ve been a 40k fan since 1989 (as if the handsome image to the left of this post isn’t enough of a clue). I used to collect the special editions but when they started releasing them at the rate of about one a month I had to give up. I also have some of their audio CDs.
I’ve read the recent novels focusing on Commander Farsight, and I’ve enjoyed them.
But as for best 40K stories that I’ve read, I’d probably put A Thousand Suns and The Carrion Throne near the top.
Pretty much a completely different tone from virtually all other WH40K novels, but my favourite series out of everything I’ve read is the Ciaphas Cain series.
Dude who (supposedly) just wants a nice and safe rear echelon job somewhere far away from the battlefronts, keeps ending up in the wrong place at the right time, has to fight his way out to save his own skin, gets mistaken(?) for a hero who deliberately throws himself into the middle of battle to disrupt enemy plots, only for his attempts to use his heroic reputation to get out of the frying pan landing him deeper into the fire, which only grows his reputation further as he somehow manages to save the day (while saving his own skin).
The series’ main gimmick can get a bit repetitive if you binge read the novels one after another, but they’re great as “palate cleanser” reads between more serious series.
