It won’t backfire because I surmise they will never actually do it. It’s just a propaganda tool and a divisive topic for the upcoming election. They will talk about it non-stop until the election.
Student Loan forgiveness did not itself win Biden the election. I think those forces were far more nefarious. However what it did do was garner for him much favor (and votes) with a particular demographic and that was the point of it.

You misunderstand. You don’t have to be black in an ideal reparations scenario. You would have to prove your ancestors were slaves. Regardless of their race.
If the left does it, it will not backfire. On the contrary. Black people will vote for them more than they already do (free money, I’d vote for that), and whites will be sold absolution. As history has shown, selling that is the best racket ever.
