Old style Chat room like the days of Pay to Play internet would be a nice addition.
Was always so nice to have a place where people could just kick back and bullshit, catch-up or joke around.
Isn’t that way Friday Night Tights live stream/chat is for?
No way i can keep up with it.
I believe we went down this idea path last year, and I know I said that while old school chat is fine…having a chat room on this website opens G+G to being too vulnerable to bad actors to come in and run ops.
All they have to do is come in, pretend to be us, say a bunch of heinous shit, screen cap it, and then run around say we are a nest of alt right bigots getting read to perform mass hate crimes.
It’s just too dangerous a system to put in place.
Edit: Here it is: https://www.geeksandgamers.com/topic/live-chat-room/
They can do that on ANY of the live streams, youtubes or other video’s comment sections… heck even here.
They already lie about everything and only take from something enough to make up lies. It is why when people quote only a little of what I say online That i quickly tell them Quote it all… I got nothing to hide and I will not say anything here i wouldnt say to a persons face. Just saying there is a time to not be afraid of them, its what they want.

@Mustangride1 is right, SJWs could easily do their heinous shit here on the forums and screenshot that
A chat room would require them to have full time mods, because you know that would become a sewer fast if not watched closely. Also, IMO, that kind of open medium could possibly allow SJW enemies to slip into the site, put up poisonous rhetoric, and make false claims against G&G before they could be stopped.
I don’t know what the requirements to be a mod are, but if lack of mods is the problem, a possible solution could be to have a set time, maybe once or twice a week, where whoever wants can jump in for a live chat, and in that case some of us could volunteer to moderate chats on a shift
@digicate
The old chatroom did not have moderators unless they were for the “under 18 / kids rooms” for the most part they policed themselves. I mean are their “mods” even on this forum? I have seen plenty of content I would have actioned as a Mod/Admin on my pages for, calling people names IS a Personal attack and I do believe their is a rule against it…. Yup just checked “We won’t allow any doxxing, blatant racism, targeting of individuals on a personal level, or anything that falls along those lines.” Calling people Names is a target of an individual and personal. And As someone who has been on the net for 30+ years and was part of the AOL HOST GUIDE system and has ran sites as well as admins on them. I would never allow any kind of personal name calling period.
There are plenty of threads on here with that the SJW’s and Woke crowd could easily grab with that happening and as it is allowed to happen they could easily troll a response.
@Mustangride1, I understand your stance on name-calling, but don’t understand what rule your talking about ??
As far as I’m concerned, there’s no universal internet rule against name-calling, each site makes their own rules
For me, the meaning of “targeting an individual” is a bunch of people ganging up and harassing someone, constantly, not one person behaving like a school kid and calling someone names every once in a while
@Digicat
The reason its not allowed is “polite conversation” Basically would you say that in front of your kids or grandma. That was the standard to prevent escalation to full blow fights, ( which usually brings on the gang attack of the friend of people” admins and mods despite peoples beliefs have better things to do then babysit adults on the internet, like actually coding the back end and trying to provide fixes to issues and problems. And no they dont get paid to do it 99.9999999% of the time they volunteer to help.
I cannot tell you how many times members who knew me in person and had my number would call at all hours because two people had to go down the name calling road, or worse with Facebook you could actually call someone and I had perfect strangers use it to call me and tell me someone was doing something. It never ceases to amaze me how grown adults call people names from behind the safety of a keyboard. Why many of the older sites warned once banned on second, they just have no time to deal with adults acting like grade school behavior.
It’s true the rules here are rather vague and broad and I don’t know to what extent they are actually enforced. But I think the Geeks & Gamers staff are, generally speaking, in favor of freedom of speech, even if they might not always agree or even like some of things some people say here (but that is whole point of freedom of speech. You’re either for it or not at all).
Here’s the thing: If you are worried about being seen as racist/sexist or something-phobic, you will always lose when going against SJW’s. “Bigotry,” as they define it, is the original sin, and by trying to prove how not sexist/racist you or your community is, you are basically allowing them to frame the debate. The simple answer is not to care what they think. Stop playing by their rules or you’ll never make any advancement in the culture wars.
True, I do think some people here could watch their rhetoric a little bit. But there are benefits to just letting them speak their mind:
-It shows the kind of person they are. If someone is not being compelled to be polite and respectful, it means they are genuine (I guess that can be good or bad, depending on context).
-It scares off potential infiltrators. For all their bluster, SJW’s are easily intimidated. I’ve seen communities get wrecked from the inside out as SJW’s will initially be respectful and obey all the rules, but once they’ve wormed their into the heart of a community, that’s when they start to introduce all their little speech codes and tyrannize anyone who doesn’t toe the line.
If you have bunch of guys that just don’t give two shits about being nice it immediately tells SJW’s that they are wasting their time. They bugger off.
Of course it’s a bit of a double-edged sword – Some right-wingers are so incredibly anti-social to the point of neuroticism, and seem to be more interested in lashing out against a society they hate than actually changing anything. You’re not going to change hearts and minds by calling anyone who disagrees with you a retard.
Like, holy shit, just be normal.

I’m sorry @Mustangride1, but calling someone at all hours without regard for them to complain about name calling is f***ing selfish, in fact, I honestly think such behavior is worse than name calling
Ya thinK, want to guess who got the Ban Hammer?
lmao
Ya thinK, want to guess who got the Ban Hammer?
The annoyed moderator who got woken up at 4am by some whiney 40 year old preschooler? 😁
3:47 am and annoyed owner/admin did.. remove the person, while said Admins wife was cussing the person out in several languages. Forgot she spoke fluent coonass and it was Glorious to hear.
