    1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

DC.  But I’ll read any publisher really; Antarctic Press, Mad Cave Studios, Top Cow, ect.

    2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?

Green Lantern from DC.  Sam from Top Cow (Death Vigil)

    3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?

I really liked Sinestro Corps War and War of the Green Lanterns.  Check those out if you haven’t.  And Death Vigil too.  Love that book.

    4. What was your first comic book?

I have no idea.  It would have been an X-Men book in the 90’s, but there’s no way I can remember the issue.

    5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

    Stjepan Sejic.

    6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

I’m reading through The Man of Steel now. Astonishingly good. Fantastic art, true blue Superman writing at its finest.

I might not be buying any modern comics, but I can still answer based on what I used to be into.

    1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

If I had to pick one, I’d go with Marvel. They’ve always had my favorite characters overall. The way that Marvel could weave stories always drew me in.

    2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?

Captain America, Wolverine, Batman, Hal Jordan Green Lantern, GL Corps, GI Joe (Snake Eyes), Transformers (Optimus Prime), Spawn, Marvel’s 2099 series, oi vey, you get the idea.

    3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?

A Death in the Family might be one of my favs. It was so shocking, it hasn’t completely lost its edge.

    4. What was your first comic book?

That was a looooooooooooooooooong time ago. Might’ve been Transformers or something.

    5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

Currently, don’t have one. It’s been a long time and not a fan of the more recent writers that I’ve read.

    6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

    Does Alex Ross count?

      1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher? I grew up reading DC and Marvel, and by the late 70s I was fully on board with Marvel and stayed there as an adult. I was OK with many Image titles, but nothing really grabbed my attention.

      2. Favorite characters in some of these universes? In DC it’s Wonder Woman. In Marvel, I would have to say my favorite character is Rogue. I just love her.

      3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in? My favorite story arc with the X-Men is hard to pin down, because I read them for so long and until 1999 had an encyclopedic knowledge of them and The Avengers. It’s a toss up between The Brood storyline and the Phalanx. They were both very interesting “other” stories.

      4. What was your first comic book? I don’t count Archies or Richie Rich, but when I was 9 and on a cross country trip with my parents, my dad, in an attempt to not murder me, bought me every comic book he could find at a truck stop where he gassed up. Wonder Woman, Captain America and Thor entertained me and started me down the road I’ve been on. That was in 1974. Many books, in that era, were reprints of Silver Age stories but I was so grabbed by the stories. Being 9, I didn’t realize they were episodic until my dad pointed out they were like my mom’s soap operas but for kids. Wonder Woman.  I loved her so much that when I first read a Carl Manvers story I told my dad she was a women’s lib rip off of Wonder Woman. Never liked her.

      5. Favorite comic book writer(s)? Christ Claremont, Alan Davis. Excalibur was my favorite book, followed closely by X-Factor.

      6. Favorite comic book artist(s)? I never considered comic book art good until the 90s, especially with the advent of Image and Marvel’s purchase of Malibu comics and Malibu Hues. Then some real standouts came about… Carlos Pacheco, Jeff Matsuda, Terry Austin love his work on Nightcrawler in the late 80s), Jim Lee. There are many but those are the biggies.

      1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

      – Always been a Marvel guy but that doesn’t mean other companies have nothing to offer.

      2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?

      – Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man

      3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?

      – Spider-Man… The Hobgoblin Saga, Kraven’s Last Hunt, Spider-Man Blue, Death of Jean deWolff, Spider-Man Megazine 1-6 (short lived reprint book with 4 stories per issue from various eras), + lots more…

      – Captain America… War And Remembrance (Roger Stern/John Byrne all too brief 9 issue run), 332-350 not sure what name this arc is…Captain America No More maybe?

      – Iron Man…Demon In a Bottle and Armor Wars are must reads

      4. What was your first comic book?

      – No clue. It was too long ago.

      5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

      – Stan Lee (couldn’t ignore him), David Michilinie, Roger Stern, Kurt Busiek, Mark Gruenwald

      6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

      – Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko (again couldn’t ignore them), George Perez, John Romita Sr., John Romita Jr. (his earlier stuff), John Buscema, Bob Layton, Mark Bagley, Jim Aparo, Norm Breyfogle, Ron Frenz, Mike Zeck, Paul Gulacy

I grew up on Marvel, while my buddies were all into DC, but for me, Marvel and Claremont were the pinnacle. Also, I prefer the Byrne and Buscema style to Liefeld and McFarlane. Image comics did change and now, they do some very esoteric things and I do like them. Very cinematic, story board type projects. One guy I like is Matt Hawkins of Top Cow, but woke ruins what would otherwise touch greatness. Just for fun, I am going over an old series called “Displaced Paranormals.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DP_7 I never got into manga, but did take a look at Akira and AppleSeed at one time.

Favorite comic is a series that connects but not really. Batman year one, long halloween, and dark victory. I also very much enjoyed identity crisis. I know thats kindadivisivebut i liked it. My first comic was from my then sisters bf now husband it was spiderman daredevil two of four marvel knights. Looking the cover it has no other title but its them two above ny buildings in dd and spiderman pose like flying thru the city like they do.

      1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

Marvel back in the day. Alterna right now.

      2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?

Marvel:  Spider-man, The Thing, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Daredevil. Alterna: Not sure yet but Mr. Crypt is cool.

      3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?

Old Man Logan is a great one off for Wolverine. Spider-man books from the 80’s were great (DeFalco era), but the original Secret Wars was the event that dwarfed all others to this day.

      4. What was your first comic book?

Spider-Man where he fought the Scorpion and Jackal (1970’s). Not sure the issue #.  My Dad read it to me.

      5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

      Claremont, Miller, DeFalco.

      6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

John Romita Sr and earlier Jr works, Ron Frenz., Ethan Van Sciver, Todd McFarlane

I am still very new to reading comic books so I don’t have an expansive knowledge about what I like yet, but here goes!

      1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

Dc, but I’m really just interested in reading the best stories that are out there from anyone.

      2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?
Superman, The Punisher, Doc Savage, and The Shadow. I’m interested in Captain America, but I have yet to read a complete story of his.

      3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?
Again, seeing as I’m a noobie my self hard to say the best run or story arc I’ve read from any of these characters. I’ll say Man of steel (1986) by John Byrne, but to be honest I didn’t love the entire thing. The rest of the characters I’ve mentioned I’ve only read various single issues. So I’m going to cheat and just tell you my favorite story I’ve read in comics period, which is a basic bitch answer: Watchmen by Alan Moore. Such a thrill to read, and I think anyone who hasn’t read that, or is looking to get into comics, should read it. it’s a great read on so many levels.

      4. What was your first comic book?

It was only a couple of years ago, It was an issue—maybe like issue #10 or #12– of Punisher: Warzone by Chuck Dixon.

      5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

I’m so new I’m just going to name the writers I have read, because obviously I don’t know whose style I really love yet.
Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Chuck Dixon, Denny O’Neal, Joe Kelly, John Byrne, Peter J. Tomasi, Will Eisner, and Grant Morrison. As you can tell I just go for the big names and big stories at this point in my comic reading journey.

      6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

I love Dave Gibbons artwork in Watchmen, George Perez—though I don’t recall reading anything from him— I have seen his images of his artwork and I love it. Really I love the 80’s style of comic art, and even some stuff from decades past. Will Eisners art is great too. Lastly I like John Romita Sr.’s stuff on the Shadow movie comic adaptation and I really liked Andy and Adam Kubert’s stuff in Doc Savage: The Silver Pyramid.

        1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

DC with a preference for the old Vertigo titles.

        2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?

Probably Batman titles and storylines the fit in with the Loeb/TAS/Miller/Murphy universes.

        3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?

Batman -> Year One / Killing Joke / Mad Love / Long Halloween / Dark Victory / Hush / Hush 2 / White Knight / Ego

        Superman Red Son.

        Wonder Woman Hiketaia

        4. What was your first comic book?

        TMNT

        5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

        Warren Ellis is up there.

        6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

If every comic book looked like Darwyn Cooke or Alex Ross I wouldn’t complain.

        1. Do you prefer Marvel, DC, Image, or another indie publisher?

I have no preference. I did love ALL the early Image stuff, I still have it all.

        2. Favorite characters in some of these universes?

Batman, Harley Quinn, old G I Joe, Faust

        3. Favorite story arc or reading recommendations of the above characters for someone wanting to jump in?

I really don’t recall, too many years ago for me since most of my comic collection was done in the 80’s and 90’s. For now, the new Batman and Joker : The Deadly Duo comic is actually good. Marc Silvestri is drawing.

        4. What was your first comic book?

Uncle had some old comics from the 70’s and gave them to me. I still have them.

        5. Favorite comic book writer(s)?

Never frankly paid much attention to writers.

        6. Favorite comic book artist(s)?

Mc Farlane’s run in Spider-Man, Eric Larson’s run in Spider-Man, early Spawn with Mc Farlane, Faust comics by Tim Vigil, Dale Keown in Pitt, Rob Liefeld’s Image comics era. Marc Silvestri’s Image comics.

Now days I mainly support Comics Gate artists like Ethan Van Sciver, John Malin, Dale Keown, Mandy Summers, etc. Mostly all Indiegogo stuff. I also support Eric July with his new Rippaverse. The majority of mainstream comics suck, and cost WAY too much for the trash tier quality writing and drawing you get. I very rarely ever buy anything from DC/Marvel, etc.
