Trying to take a break from everything and delve into an old school game I’ve never heard of before. Was browsing the NES app on the Switch and Crystalis looked interesting. Only about 20-30 min into it and it’s fun enough so far.
Has anyone played this before?
I want to say I recall the name from the NES days but never played it. From my recollection I want to say it was a big hit at the time.
It plays like a combination of the 1st Zelda game and Dragon Quest. An over world map you can fight on, use your items, enter towns or caves. The level up system has some very Dragon Quest vibes, same with the shopping and using Inns in towns.
It’s been a good escape from the newer stuff. Getting lost in an NES game I’ve never played before has been fun thus far. It’s worth a look. Arcus does a great play through of it, and at the time, was also his first shot at the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlJm5k4EYbY
I tackled Crystalis back int he day when it first came out. For an old school side scroller action RPG, it’s a good challenge…at least my kid brain remembers it being so. When you beat it, it’s earned.
