Geeks + Gamers › Forums › Theme Parks – Park Hoppin’ › General Theme Park Discussions › Current record holding rollercoasters,
Thought I would look up the current rollercoaster coasters that have world records. These are not for the faint hearted.
Speed
This goes to formula Rossa, this beast of a coaster goes from 0-150 mph in 4.9 seconds and you will be on this ride for 1 minute 32 seconds. Max g is 5. So if you like fast rollercoasters this will fit the bill, as it’s compared to an F1 car.
Height
The current record holder is King-da-ka, this monster towers above everything at the great adventure theme park. At a jaw dropping 456ft ,get ready to leave your stomach at the station. It’s also the second fastest rollercoaster in the world. Max 5gs
Length
If you want a long lengthy ride then Steel dragon is for you but will you be saying that when your on this ride as it’s a brutal 4 minutes. It’s also fast at 95mph, now are you ready speed plus length=😵.
Drop
This record also is held by King-da-ka.
Inversions
This record is held by The Smiler, It’s has 14 inversions and is going to leave you in a daze. Here are the inversions, Heartline roll, corkscrew, dive loop ,dive loop, reverse sidewinder, side winder, corkscrew, sea serpent (2 inversions), corba roll (2 inversions) , corkscrew and corkscrew. Get ready to be marmalised, and remember “You belong to the smiler, Join us” Max g 4.5
Angle
Are you the sort that like their drops to be extreme, if so then head to Nickelodeon universe theme park and go on TMNT shellraiser , you will experience an 121.5 degree drop, this rollercoaster is just .5 of a degree than the former record holder Takabisha. It also has seven inversions. This is no kid ride, so get ready to scream.
So what one of this rides would you dare ride?
I will be adding more to this tomorrow
I’ve seen Kingda Ka since Great Adventure is my home park, and it’s super tall! You can see it towering above the trees before you even get inside the park. It’s massive!
Its look impressive. Six flags magic mountain has the largest vertical loop in the United states , it’s 127 feet. High.
Do Dodonpa has the record for fastest acceleration, 0-112mph in 1.6 seconds. This rollercoaster scares even the bravest of rollercoaster enthusiasts. It also has the largest vertical loop in the world at 130 feet just 3 feet higher than the previous record holder full throttle.
Gatekeeper is the biggest wingcoaster at a height of 170feet . This ride is at Cedar point. You actually have an inversion at the top of the lift hill. So straight away you have hangtime if your near the front.
A new rollercoaster could claim the crown for highest rollercoaster, highest inversion and steepest drop. It will be the first polarcoaster And when complete will be an insane 500 feet.
The New Iron Gwazi Also Is Tied For the height record, and will have the speed record once it opens, which at this time is planed for september
EDIT: The New Ride’s Speed Is 76 MPH
Steel Vengance holds the record for the most “air time” on a coaster, which means how long you are experiance 0 or negitive gs (Being pushed upward) at just over 30 seconds. It’s often agreed to possibly be the best coaster currently operating in the world, though some argue it is overrated.
The shortest coaster in the world, in terms of track length, are all held by 10 coasters of the “Kiddy Racer” model produced by Gerstlauer. Here’s a link to a list of all 10:

All of these rides are just 75.5 ft long! And it can probably fit in most people’s back yards or in malls. I’m surprised this is not popular in chuck e cheeses or arcades for that matter.

I have heard that it’s a great coaster, one of the reasons I want to go to cedar point. 27.2 seconds is quite an impressive amount of airtime.
FLY be the world’s first launched flying coaster when it opens at Phantasialand Germany.
The worlds highest and fastest 4th dimensional coaster is at Fuji Q, Ejanaika. It’s 249 feet high and reaches speeds of 78 mph.
For g force the ride that holds this record is the tower of terror ride at Gold reef city, you experience 6.3g’s of force. This lasts for just a few seconds so apparently is quite safe.
Steel Curtain at Kennywood holds the record for world’s tallest inversion at 197 feet. It also has the most inversions of any coaster in North America
