I was always curious about this but maybe someone from New Zealand on this website could answer me on this question but does New Zealand have alot of Power Rangers fans there?
I ask this because Power Rangers is filmed in New Zealand currently and had been filmed there since 2003 when Disney bought Power Rangers from Hiam Saban and moved all filming to the country to save money.
Also I heard from Emma Lahana one of the actresses on Power Rangers (my current Power Rangers crush) said that when she was a kid growing up in New Zealand in the 1990s that Power Rangers was banned in her country all the way to 2011 because the New Zealand government deemed Power Rangers as too violent for TV viewing there?
Which is odd because in 2003 to 2010, Disney filmed Power Rangers in New Zealand and I have to say some of the best seasons of the series was filmed there at the time too….yet it couldn’t be shown to the country it was filmed in?
And when the ban was lifted on Power Rangers in New Zealand in 2011, people in New Zealand’s introduction to Power Rangers was…….Power Rangers: Megaforce which in my opinion is probably one of the worst Power Rangers seasons ever (although Ciara Hanna the Yellow Ranger in that season was pretty hot……don’t tell Emma Lahana I was looking at another Yellow Ranger besides her lol 😂😀)
So New Zealanders have only really known about Power Rangers for the past 10 years and in those 10 years these poor Kiwis had to suffer through watching some of the crappiest and downright worst seasons of Power Rangers seasons like Power Rangers: Megaforce, Power Rangers: Ninja Steel and…….Power Rangers: Beast Morphers the worst one of all.
While I and the rest of the places in the world that didn’t ban Power Rangers got treated to the best of the 1990s Power Rangers and the Disney Power Rangers seasons ever…which is unfair to all those Power Rangers fans in New Zealand.
I just don’t get why New Zealand will film and show Lord of the Rings in their country which is like million times more violent than Power Rangers ever was and yet would ban Power Rangers throughout the early 2000s when they showed Lord of the Rings in theaters there? It makes no sense to me?
I also heard TMNT was allowed in New Zealand in the 1980s which is exactly like Power Rangers yet in the 1990s and early 2000s they ban Power Rangers?
Like is New Zealand….Power Rangersphobic until 2011 or something?
What if you were a kid in the 1990s who loved Power Rangers that lived in North America then your family had to move to New Zealand and then once you moved there you found out your favourite 1990s show is….illegal there? I would snap if I was that kid in the 1990s because I couldn’t’ watch Power Rangers in the new place I now called home.
Also what happens if you were a kid in the 1990s that loved Power Rangers from North America and you had the Power Rangers VHS tapes then you moved to New Zealand, would the immigration agents there confiscate your Power Ranger VHS tapes before allowing you to enter the country to stop you from sharing Power Rangers with other kids in the country to avoid kids in New Zealand from getting violent from watching Power Rangers VHS tapes?
A silly question for me to ask but I find it strange how New Zealand can film Power Rangers in their country but not allow it to be broadcasted in their country but also film Lord of the Rings there which has people chopping off other people’s heads with lots of blood and is more violent than Power Rangers is yet it is broadcasted in New Zealand with no problem?
This makes no sense to me as someone who is from outside New Zealand and is a long time Power Rangers fans also.
And since Power Rangers is filmed in New Zealand, in opinion there should be lots of Morphicons going on in the country because the sets and current cast are all there and makes sense to have conventions in the same the show is filmed.
But ask for fans in Power Rangers in New Zealand, in my opinion there might not be as many as in North America or other places that allowed Power Rangers to be shown there since the 1990s and 10 years is too short a time to gain enough fans in New Zealand for Power Rangers and also people in New Zealand would be treated to the worst seasons of Power Rangers in 2011 to now because their introduction to the franchise is Megaforce all the way to Dino Fury which both look like crap unlike the previous Power Rangers seasons leading up to Power Rangers Megaforce.
