I am going to try and give a non-spoiler revue, but as many have read the books or know the story I might slip.

1st The scale and size of the movie even on the small screen is insane, IMax is a must without doubt and when it is released in the US, I will be there to see it.

2nd To address the “Race swap” of Dr. Liet Kynes, the only ones who have a reason to make it a reason are ones looking to inject politics or race in to their criticism of the movie. Kynes being a female in this move was no issue at all for me and I have been a fan of the books and all attempts at making it for screen since I was 12ish that 40+ years.

3rd Jason was Jason and pulled off a good Duncan, I can see if they go deep in to the series he can be Duncan.

4th For the rest of the cast, Excellent in all aspects, The Baron blew me away, awesome job on him and reminded me a lot of Marlon Brando’s portrayal of Colonel Walter Kurtz. I was very skeptical on Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, She pulled it off well.

Now as to the story telling, It felt like the Dune Verse, but I wish they would have touched more on the back-story of the houses, (that may come in the next movie). This made the pacing seem a little rushed. My best guess is this is a set-up for the second movie. There were a lot of scenes in trailers not in this movie so they are either cut and left on the editing floor or there is already a second movie and possibly 3rd made or being made.

I am giving this the Rare 10 of 10 even with some minor nit-picking flaws or my personal wishes to have seen. For a set-up to get people in to the story this movie did it, now can Deny pull off the remainder of the Book. If he can this will stay a 10. If not I would drop it to an 8.5 as you have to pull off the entire story. Lets face it GOT Seasons 1 through 4 were about as close to flawless perfection as we had seen in years. I would and did rank them 8.5 to 10. Yet now I cannot go back to watch them as the others season and final destroyed them and as a whole I rank the series now as (0) as in unwatchable.

Last thought. If you are a true fan of DUNE, go into this with an open mind that this is only the first in the probable trilogy and as a set0-up goes, it was done very well. Also, I have already heard people trying to compare this to LOT or Star Wars. You cannot compare apples to oranges, so do not try.

      New DUNE review, No Spoilers

      The Morris House of Wizardry

We witnessed the birth of the greatest movie since “Lord of the Rings” – DUNE. We both love the book and waited for the movie for a long time. Now it’s out, and here is what we have to say about it.

They are just cute. Made me giggle.

Also, on a side note, there are is not a lot of artwork for Duncan Idaho. Swordmaster Duncan is neglected by the Art community.

Why DUNE is a Cinematic Masterpiece | Dune Movie Review

      Zach Pope

Dune is officially hitting theaters on OCTOBER 22nd and also on HBO MAX. This is my early review of DUNE! Speaking about ” Why DUNE is a Cinematic Masterpiece” In this video, Zach Pope gives his movie review of DUNE!

I do not know this guy, so he might be a shill. He loves it. Says it’s on that epic level. I don’t trust anyone who compares it to LOTR yet.

Also, as stated before, Duncan Idaho needs more art. Why is there NOT more art of Duncan Idaho? Well, it means there are that many fans that are into him. That is a sticking point, unfortunately.

That would be an art challenge I would propose if I was someone in DeviantArt or ArtStation. Come up with signature looks for Duncan Idaho.

      Beyond The Trailer

Posted just for the heck of it. She sucks.  What a world to live in where a person like this has almost a million subscribers.

Not a good review at all. She puts forward arguments that were debunked weeks ago. She must think her views are dumb.

      https://boingboing.net/2021/10/14/dune-getting-good-reviews.html

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune opens in a couple of weeks in wide release, but the reviews are already up and it’s 90% fresh on the tomatometer: looks like he nailed it. People who have read the novel will surely find David Klion’s review in The New Republic most interesting, as it covers the important bases that non-fans won’t care about.

But while the Harkonnens may lack redeeming qualities, the Atreides were never meant to be as straightforwardly benevolent as they initially come across, and Villeneuve grasps this. Early in the film, Chalamet’s Paul is critical of his own family’s quasi-liberal conceit that they can run Arrakis as an extractive colony without oppressing their Fremen subjects, and of the Bene Gesserit’s religious manipulations of those same subjects. But by the film’s end, Paul has decided to exploit the Fremen himself in order to enact his revenge on the Harkonnens and the Emperor, has personally killed one Fremen in combat, and has experienced prescient visions of the galactic-scale killing that will follow from his actions.

The movie covers half the book. Klion rightly notes that it would be “criminal” if the second half doesn’t get made, but I’d go as far as to say that the matter of Dune Messiah—the first sequel—is required shooting too. It’s not really a sequel at all, but a relatively brief coda which makes much clear that Paul is bad news, not a savior.
