Uh-oh. Does the Meta logo kind of look like GeeksandGamers?
Both look like a mask. Zuckerberg must wish he was Jeremy.
In June 2018, Oculus executive Jason Rubin sent an email to Facebook board member Marc Andreessen with the subject line “The Metaverse.”
“We believe that the right way to break through consumer indifference to VR is to deliver what they expect and want from the medium: THE METAVERSE,” reads the first slide of a 50-page document outlining a strategy for building a virtual world.
The three-year-old document, obtained by CNBC, laid the foundation for the futuristic ambitions of Meta, the company that until now was called Facebook. CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s hour-long demo on Thursday, which culminated in the announcement of the new company name, was designed to portray a very different world than the one we currently inhabit at a time when Facebook faces a non-stop barrage of negative headlines tied to the addictive nature of its social media products.
Needs to be a meme. Side by side comparison of logos. “Pick your fighter.”
I feel like Zuck wants a Krista tattoo.
Looks like I’ll post metaverse topics in here, for now. I have not seen many gamers getting into virtual reality or augmented reality. There is talk about a lot of NFTs and crypto currencies in relation to gaming. There is talk about a lot of mobile app games and one example was PokemonGo, but I’m sure there are others.
There are actually a bunch of logos that look like that, but it’s an opportunity to troll Zuck, which is always fun.
Meta, the Matrix, Ready Player One (the oasis), Free Guy, all that stuff kind of shows you this bizarre futurism. It’s wild how fast things are moving towards that. The Internet of things. And where it gets kind of weird is the Internet of Bodies.
Not sure if I should post this movie.
At 1:03:28, he asks, “What are they doing?”
“VR.”
“For how long do they VR for?”
“Days, weeks…”
“Do they sleep?”
“Nope.”
“Why someone would choose to live in a fake world, I will never understand.”
“The fake world is a lot less painful than the real one.”
It looks like a modified, or warped, version of the infinity symbol.
Still mega-crap! IMO.
M E n T A l ,
Oh look, it is the new coke of the tech industry.
Ha. You get it! Coke, Syfy, Hulu, Nike, etc. That is the brand strength.
There was a headline that said Meta means “is dead” in Hebrew? Makes sense. In Spanish, it’s muerto or muere. Mori, like memento mori.
Agree, a warped Infinity symbol. It also looks like the outline of a gaming console or gaming controller. I’ve seen a logo like that.
at 1:14, Mark does fencing with Olympic Gold Medalist Lee Kiefer. Didn’t know who she was. You know who’d be a good fencing coach in Meta? Zorro!
Metaverse: Ready Player One Becomes Reality
The Dave Cullen Show
He says folks are being conditioned to fear reality. To never go outside.
Very thoughtful as always, I agree 100% with your analysis. Too bad not many people are capable of seeing clearly where this is taking us: mass servitude.
As soon as I saw them putting VR goggles on cattle in order to simulate nice, green, expansive meadows, thereby increasing the cattle’s milk yield, I knew it was just a matter of time before they’d be trying to subject humans to the same technology. Because that’s how they see us: mere cattle.
“Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”
I’m endlessly amazed by stuff you learn from reading. The above is from the book Dune, that I’ve started reading because of the movie. Amazing how prophetic some of these “fiction” ideas are.
highly recommend you check out the movie “Surrogates” (2009) with Bruce Willis. The same theme of humanity hiding from real life by using robots to move about in the real world, while their human pilots never left their homes (or more accurately, their “pods”). The movie tells you this technology was used so that people would feel “safe”, since real life is just too dangerous.
Surprised at people on this site that are not afraid at all, in any way, to talk about politics and religion and satanism. Not posting this to preach nor proselytize, but only to hear a different point of view. Will say that I think all this new tech is incredible. I’ve been a huge fan of syfy my whole life and admire you gamers out there. Dave Cullen said it best in his video that tech was supposed to be a tool of assistance and not a tool of control.
There used to be all these movies and books about Nazis putting numbers on arms and yet, our data is owned and they want to inject the public and chip the public and very few question this now. He says technology is the new babylon. This guy chastises a bit, but it’s done in the proper way. He says do not pursue comfort and laziness. He says tech makes us so comfortable that it’s enslavement, before you know it, you are overweight and immobilized.
Welcome to the Metaverse: Zuckerberg Klaus Schwab and Your Digital Future
Church of the Eternal Logos
In this stream I discuss the new rebrading of Facebook as “meta,” Klaus Schwab’s support for the metaverse, and your new digital future. Make sure to check it out and let me know what you think.
God bless
Also, there are a ton of videos on the Metaverse and finance, crypto, and things like that. Let me know if you’d like videos more on the tech side or finance side of it. Things are going in that direction, regardless. Mobile app games with AR and things like that. Gamification of economics and data. The key is to try and be more picky and selective on videos posted so that they are actually useful and germane to the conversation instead of…spam.
I am on the verge of giving up technology all together and learning arcane magic like Dr. Strange.
“Your Ancestors Called it Magic, but You Call it Science. I Come From a Land Where They Are One and the Same.” (Thor – MCU)
And like any tool, it can be used either for good or for evil.
Technology exists and is real, unlike Dr. Strange who is a fictional character doing fictional things (ie. not real).
You are better off in the Real World, regardless of how good/bad it is.
We have to support independent creators, and alternative technology/platforms.
Just as anything in life, remember technology could be used as something positive or something negative.
I’m afraid even if an alternative social media rises up it will become corrupted again or sold to the MSM, for that we need legal workarounds to prevent that but then again some people will argue that could inhibit freedom.
But I agree is better to start supporting, creating alternatives than doing nothing at all and just complain.
I chuckled at the Dr. Strange line. It was funny. It would be ideal if young gamers could find another community of other gamers and somehow find a way to profit. Was listening to a guy talk about how poker players will go into Meta and play poker and make bank on their roll with players all over the world, but we know that happened to Pokerstars in the past. Heard good things about MANA and DOT lately in terms of cryptos and projects.
Play-to-earn gaming and NFTs are supposedly taking off. I’d like for you gamers to find a way to make it.
The other commenters are correct. Although I’m a doomer, Google and Facebook and Apple were all lifetime opportunities. There are more out there now. It’s going to happen regardless.
