Thank you for your reply, Mario_zeroSOY. I appreciate your insight into the reasons why you like Mario. It sounds like he has great character and can be enjoyed in his own unique way as a true icon of video gaming culture. I have also seen cutscenes of Super Mario Sunshine but have not seen cutscenes of the Super Mario Galaxy series yet. I appreciate your answers to my questions and hope to have more discussions with you in the near future.

Hello again Wu BeeBee, I appreciate your reply. I like Joel from the Last Us 1 but I have not heard of Ico, Varric, Elena Fisher, or Mordecai + Bloodwing yet. I am sure that they are great characters but I need to play the games or watch cutscenes first before giving an honest opinion of them. As for Joel, he was well developed in the original game and I am sad that his sequel game is such garbage. Thank you for your contribution to the discussion though.

My vote for Mordecai + Bloodwing is more about skill set and teamwork, i.e. fun-to-play value, than character development.   The rest were developed characters.

I appreciate it, Wu BeeBee. I never though about skill set and teamwork as an asset to evaluate a video game character before. This is an interesting concept to me. I will make sure to keep that in mind when I am playing video games. Talk to you later.

Male: Sir Auron (Final Fantasy X)
          Auron

Female: Lara Croft  – Even though the reboot redesign was, clearly, for woke reasons, I think they did a fantastic job with the games. Honestly, I don’t know which version I prefer.
          LaraLara 3

          Robot: Legion (Mass Effect 2+3)
          Jzp5ga

Zero – I never really got into the Mega Man Zero series, but Zero from the Mega Man X series is one of the coolest bad asses of all time. Samurai, cyber punk, humanoid robot, anti hero, with a light saber and stylish hair. I love his design and love his story. The idea that what should have been X’s greatest enemy ends up being his greatest ally is pretty cool. Zero has a cool legacy for anyone familiar with all of the classic Mega Man games. Zero is Wily’s final and ultimate creation, the one that finally made him Dr. Light’s equal.

Sly Cooper – Gentlemen Thief Extraordinaire, Sly is just a fun, cool, character who can do it all. Charming, witty, skillful, good with the ladies, loyal to his friends, honorable, and a fighter when necessary. All of the characters from the Sly series are great really. The characters are the beating heart of the series.

Batman – I mean, I know he’s really a comic book character, but at this point Batman has made his presence known in every form of media there is.

Fox McCloud – I didn’t realize just how much I missed Fox until I played Starlink on the Switch. His presence added so much to that game. Great character.

Sonic the Hedgehog – The coolest mascot character in the platform genre, happy to see that the movie made him relevant again.

Various characters from Castlevania – The series is full of great characters and it’s fun seeing some of them in the Netflix series

Ninjas – There’s a lot of them I like from various games, like Ryu Hyabusa or Rikimaru or the nameless one from Mark of the Ninja

Kreia, Knights of the Old Republic 2

            #173112

Yeah Kreia definitely left an impression.

After that I never looked at the Jedi the same again.

In no particular order and off the top of my head –

Mario – He’s the icon and he only get better with time. Super Mario Galaxy forever!

Link – Link’s adventures are always fascinating to me. You feel like a real hero playing as him – we need a LOZ movie!

Kratos – the ultimate badass. Kratos redefined brutality and took it to a level I didn’t think was possible. A story and arc that pulls you in and makes you feel his anger. Fucking love it!

Gordon Freeman – Half-life 2 is still probably the best campaign I’ve ever played. Gordon, as a character, isn’t the most interesting, but his journey and story is truly incredible

Samus Aran – she’s everything a character should be. She doesn’t need to remind anyone of his gender and that’s exactly how it should be. Samus destroys the narrative

Oof, there is a lot, but from all the games I played there is one that stands out, because I didnt like her at all in the beginning, but over the course of the game she became my favorite. Its Magilou from “Tales of Berseria”. Really good development. At first she she is very annoying, but the more you learn and interact with her, she just grows on you.

Other is is Ezio from “Assassins Creed” 2 to “Revelations”. At first he doesnt seem as someone who can become a leader and master assassin, but then stuff happens and boom.

Morrigan from “Dragon Age Origins” to “Inquisition”. I guess it depends on you choices from the games and whether you romance her or not. I did, so she becomes pretty good. Also one of those who u may not like in the beginning.
