Yeah, so I know this won’t be everyone’s taste, but I thought I’d bring it up in case no one else was talking about it. Gate Zero is a sort of open world, exploration type game that takes place in ancient Israel, where you get witness various Biblical events unfold. Basically involves time shenanigans similar to the Assassin’s Creed games, you know you’re there in mind, but you’re body is in chair somewhere. Anyway, beyond just exploration, it also allows you to customize your character, there’s some puzzle and stealth elements in the game, dialogue options even (though I’m not sure how in depth). It’s meant to be family friendly, so probably pretty basic, but I still believe the premise on it could make for a neat game. I’ve always wanted to see a Bible game and for that reason, I hope it gets the funding needed. They have a Kickstarter that ends July 6th (well, 5th midnight, but same deal). They also have a trailer on Youtube and the game itself will be on Steam, with optional multiplayer via Mobile. So yeah, there it is, just thought I’d bring that to ya’lls attention for anyone who might be interested. If not that’s cool, maybe you know someone who is or would be.

    Thanks

My thing is mainly the music and movies. Sometimes, I go check out the Biblical stuff just for something different from the secular world.
A lot of other genres are kind of mass produced. I also would be curious when something at least seems kind of Indie or independent. A lot of movies and music in the secular seems the same. Not sure if this is happening in gaming and what would set a game apart. It bothers me that I stopped gaming long ago, because I think it offers a lot.

What pronouns did they use back then?
Is there a pronouns part of this game? Seems pivotal now in the age of Piker painting his fingernails.
This is one reason people might just start looking elsewhere. Makes you wonder how many Indie games are even possible?

This sort of Bible based media is awesome.  What people tend not to understand, because we are 2000 years removed from it, is that the deep meaning they get from the Bible present day,  actually runs far far deeper than most realize.   It is just human nature to read something and sort of fill in the blanks with your own experiences.  Which actually makes the Bible that much more amazing as it’s wisdom was written such that 2000 years later it is 100% applicable.

But there is much lost to time that typically only theologians and historians are aware of and these things only reinforce and highlight further the meanings and themes of the Bible.

Here is just an example that has stuck with me.  Most folks will read about stoning in the Bible and their gut reaction is that is barbaric and so on and so forth because we relate that to present day where in some of the Middle East a group of people will get together, decide someone is guilty and stone them to death.  Now I would say we can discuss whether it was barbaric or not but the stoning in the Bible (as I understand it) was not what you are thinking.  There was some sort of an actual trial and the people making the accusations had to do the stoning.  It is my understanding it did happen but it was rare.

But yet even in that context Jesus spoke against this or maybe more specifically against condemning people when you yourself are guilty.

“When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”–John 8:7

Just heard about this. Guess Melonie Mac launched a channel where she reads chapters of the Bible every day. I am impressed by that and find people like that more interesting these days, simply because the real world tries so hard to beat that out of people. People who do that are contrarians, or counter-trend. The new counter culture really is the underground spiritual people.

As for stoning, I can only chuckle. There is video footage in urban settings every day of people being beaten, or killed by hammers or weird car drift videos. Of all things, I think the car assaults are the most brutal. This is what made me consider spiritual and religious people more is that, it goes from partying and sports mobs to violence worse than stoning and, next thing you know, some are acting more like savage animals than human beings. That was one reason I was into the Oliver Anthony character. He’s always in nature and at peace. People stuck in chasing status and materialism are so competitive, that they become like a Tanya Harding or other type that will harm their competition.

Was listening to a guy the other day who prays sometimes. He said he is still seeking. I dig that. And this media is creative expression. Games like this and other lore that is fictionally based on the Bible for a reason. Interpretations of it.

You make great points there.  We say, “oh my stoning how terrible and barbaric!” yet you have people here and all over the world killing, hurting and using each other left and right.  I am not sure the implement matters so essentially it’s all the same.

The thing about religious folks (Christians and others) is they/we know and practice the thought that to be human is to resist your animalistic urges and to be holy is to do those thinks so you don’t offends God while also helping others in this world and loving them the best you can as Jesus commanded.

It is a lie of the Devil that happiness and freedom will be found through pleasing yourself over and over again.  It is a promise that goes unfulfilled and delivers only misery and loss of purpose and hope.

PS – I have been watching Melanie Mac reading the Bible.  It’s a beautiful thing to see a young lady not only follow her faith but share it with others.  In this day and age that also takes a brass set.
