Doomcock is right to have faith that there is a future where Star Wars rises from the ashes, but I disagree with where he’s putting his faith.
Everyone knows I think Dave Filoni is no better for Star Wars than anyone currently sinking the ship. His story telling is pretty weak overall, he stretches and bends lore to suit his needs, and he ignores good story decisions for his obsessions, ie. Ashoka living past Order 66. Favreau….I do not understand why there is continued belief that Favreau is some kind of savior? Dude is a merc. What he’s produced is honestly weak Star Wars content packed with member berries. It’s not terrible, but it sure ain’t great, and it only looks awesome compared to the rest of the Disney garbage.
So no, I still wouldn’t support modern Disney Star Wars if Favreau were magically given control, because I don’t think he knows what truly epic and good Star Wars looks like.
I always enjoy Doomcock, but for the past couple of months he’s been peddling WAY too much in rumors, and it’s made him less fun to watch.
Star Wars can rise again, but it has to be behind the PT, OT, and the EU. It is our jobs as fans to collect, protect, and preserve Real Star Wars until the day that all the trash put forth after the 2012 purchase is disregarded for the filth that it is and Real Star Wars can get back to the business of being fun.
How is everyone spending their Star Wars Day 2021?
Watched Bad Batch and really enjoyed it 😸
Non Star Wars: Just finished watching Noragami season 2, and i want season 3 NOW 🤩
@Roas, will have to disagree with you on Favreau and Filoni, they understand what they are doing and how to do it, have been for a long time. I actually put Clone Wars and Mando above EP1-2-3. as far as watch-ability for me. It might be a taste thing or you having a little problem when things you love get woked “yup saw your video” before youtube went bad on you.
But Doomcock, man I cannot even watch him anymore, he has gone so far down the conspiracy rabbit hole I think im reading GOT Great Norther Conspiracy fan-fic. He has turned me off and a few others I know. I think he wants it to be true so bad he will believe anything then spew it out as (take with grain of salt i cannot verify) Well maybe one day he will get back to making the videos I enjoyed, until then i cant watch.
@Mustangride1 We are going to fundamentally disagree on this, heh.
Don’t get me wrong TCW is not ALL bad, but I do not hold it in the high regard that many seem to. I can never believe that anyone who would 1) gimp Mandos, 2) gimp Grievous and utterly maim his character after how he was introduced by Genndy Tartakovsky in such an epically badass manner, 3) repeatedly create storylines that fly in the face of the established PT canon knows what he’s doing. I do not see Filoni as any sort of Star Wars guru. Simply never will. The best thing TCW did was flush out Anakin’s story, I’ll give it that.
But would I take TCW over anything Disney made? Yeah, because it still was better Star Wars than anything made after 2012. I don’t love it, but I learned to accept it because even though I think Filoni is weak, it still was mostly within the boundaries of Lucas’ vision of Star Wars.
Favreau? I’ll give it that his heart is in the right place, but Mandalorian is average/middling Star Wars on its best day, and as I’ve said over and over again in this exact discussion here, it was propped up by the greatest marketing gimick in history in the form of Baby Yoda Grogu. Creating that fucking little bastard was brilliant as normie catnip.
I know it’s not the most popular opinion with many of the denizens here, but my opinion is what it is on this stuff. But these forums being a place of freedom of expression, I’m allowed to be a Favreau and Filoni hater, and others are free to look upon them as saviors. I’ve been in enough of this exact debate enough times in my year on this forum to know minds are not going to be changed, but the beauty is this discussion can and will continue to happen because we are all at least coming from the right place…we want Star Wars to be good…we just may differ on the path, but there is usually general agreement the Disney ST can go to fucking hell.
Bottom line for me is after 20+ years of EU content from books to games, all this stuff pales as nothing by cheap knock offs to me.
@DigCat Don’t hold on to hope for a Noragami S3, it’s been a lot of years since S2, and I don’t think anyone has show the slightest interest in further adaptations. Best to find the manga or light novel if you wanna continue the story.
See I can agree with your points on TCW. Mando though, Little green Shit was not a big deal to me, I understood what Star Wars originally was “Spaghetti Western in Space” It had that feel all the way up until the last Episode for me.
That last episode took it in to Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, emotion level. It had a soul at that point which put it on the level of Destroying the First Death Star, Luke I am your Father and EP-6 force ghost scenes. None of 1, 2, or 3 had that and certainly not 7 8 9. To be “Star Wars” it has to have the “Western feel and powerful emotional scenes” Hard as hell to recreate {George even failed with 1 2 3}. Rogue-1 had the elements that made it Star Wars for me, Western feel with even some steam-punk and super emotional ending.
Back to TCW, This is why I can agree with you but disagree also. It was Star Wars Galaxy setting and had good moments but not true Star Wars moments. I never was emotionally involved it had no part that did that for me so it lacked a very important element. But still put it in the Galaxy.
Thrawn, I want to be good so bad, it has all the elements of Star War, but I fear it will be torn to shreds by SJW, I really hope for its sake that entire group is gone before it is made. But I will hold out hope for anything from the Good times in SW Story Telling…. Still aint paying for anything Disney puts out so long and the Evil Empress is there.

See, the whole Luke cameo at the end of Mando S2….did nothing for me. As I’ve said in previous debates, because I’m an EU guy, I’ve had awesome moments of Grand Master Luke Skywalker for decades. A kick ass Luke was already in my heart and in my mind. All I saw with that was the show TRYING to be more Star Wars by invoking the best thing Star Wars has to offer…Luke being Luke.
Call me a cold hearted bastard for not really feeling anything, but I simply did not need Mando to give me the warm and fuzzies for Luke.
That’s why I keep saying if people want good REAL Star Wars, go read the EU, because it is filled with emotion and memorable moments. The EU holds the heart and soul of Lucas’ vision. People just need to embrace it. Hell, the number one selling sci-fi book right now is the lost EU book Heart of the Jedi. Everyone, even myself, is buying it right now because it’s a story of our true Star Wars heroes. I can’t wait til mine arrives this weekend, and I when I think about a new story I haven’t read yet…
THAT gives me that tingling feeling of excitement that NONE of the Star Wars produced after 2012 could ever possibly invoke.
Thinking about it is exciting!
See the end of Mando “Luke” was great for me a childhood hero the way I remember, But it could have been any of the Jedi still known and I would have had the same emotion. It was not about LUKE, it was about the completion of the Story with satisfying fulfillment. In many ways after the initial emotions, you put ANY Jedi in that time and you have the “Moment”.
I think they were very boxed in to having it be either “Mace or Luke” so the casual fan would know who it is, Leia could have been used but that would have confused many people. It had to be a Known Jedi.
Many people have unknowingly gone to the dark side now because of what KK has done to Star Wars. I even think with you bringing up 2012 so often you are not looking at Star Wars as to is it “STAR WARS” or “Woke Wars” Many people cannot separate them out because of anger or pissed off at politics etc. I can still look for the Key Elements that make something actually fitting in to the “Original Universe” even if the Studio or Actors go completely Woke Zombie’s. I can at the same time give the studio and actor hell on social media and also not pay for their product(s).
I look for the elements, replace LUKE with Mace or any other Jedi and the elements are still there. This is why I can look at Rogue-1 and say this is really Episode 4 as it would tie in to the original ep-4, flawlessly allowing for a smooth transitions of Story. Solo was a complete Joke, it did not even feel star wars, heck it felt more like a bad Oceans-11. And the last 3 movies the mouse did should all be offered as a free ticket to a family at Disney, Then have a giant burning of all of them and the masters and they need to get on their knees and apologize to the world for that garbage.
@Mustangride1 Man, I wish you’d been here for all the times I’d already had this debate here, cuz I hate it for people to see me always repeating myself, thinking I have no new arguments.
I will give you a point for bringing up an aspect that no one has yet when this comes up. The fact that you would have felt emotion if any known Jedi had appeared is an interesting perspective. Clearly you have initiated a category of investment that I need to take into account now when talking about this. Your sincerity comes through that you were actually invested in the Mando story, and I don’t want you to think I’m taking that for granted when I say that no matter who had shown up, I still feel like it was a dud and a ploy to just make it feel more like Star Wars.

Again, I wish you’d been a part of previous debates, cuz you are framing me a little incorrectly with that. To save me time, I’m going to clip a piece of my script from the big Star Wars video I’m continually trying to finish but other shit keeps getting in the way. This basically is my current stance on Star Wars in a nutshell:
So now I ask, here in 2021, is there any hope left for Star Wars? Is there anything that can be done to save that Galaxy Far Far Away?
If you had asked me that question in as far back in 2012, I would have said a flat no. Full disclosure: I am an Expanded Universe guy. I’m one of those diehard fans who when Timothy Zahn gave us the Thrawn Trilogy I jumped in head first saying, “Thank you, sir, may I have some more?” and I got more for over twenty years. But in 2012, when newly anointed Lucasflim President Kathleen Kennedy threw out all of my beloved EU, my heart was broken. Broken in the same scattered pieces millions of people are now experiencing.
In 2012 I fell into a deep fan depression over Star Wars. I was never lead down the yellow brick fools gold road to The Force Awakens. After it came out, I was in a rage for years which eventually turned into apathy. My remaining Star Wars trinkets were discarded without care, and my shelves of books ignored, eventually boxed up and forgotten for a time. Does this sound familiar yet to all you folks black pilling Star Wars here in 2021?
And then I found the Fandom Menace in 2018, shortly after Round Head Rian Johnson blasted the fanbase apart with the Last Jedi and all its divisive identity politics and desecration of Star Wars lore, most notibly the assassination of Luke Skywalker.
I discovered that I was not alone in my unhappiness with what Disney had wrought upon the franchise that had been most dear to me since I was three years old. In that discovery of community, my heart began to heal until we come to this time, here and now, where I am whole again with my own love for Star Wars.
Star Wars.
Not Disney Star Wars.
I love REAL Star Wars. The Star Wars I grew up with, and the Star Wars that continued for me in the EU.
So I understand what people are feeling at this time. I understand the rage that has turned into apathy and back to righteous fury. I won’t go so far to say I am unique in my ability to emphasize, but I do feel I am part of a group capable of that empathy since I’ve been down that dark and gloomy path and come out the other side with a smile on my face. I know what it’s like to have your heart broken…to feel hopeless that something you love has been so…so violated.
That is how I feel in the here and now. As far as I am concerned, there is Real Star Wars and Disney Star Wars. There is no possible integration of the two, because Disney Lucasfilm purposefully created that division. You’re kinda hinting that my anger stems from wokeification aspects, but any anger I get in that is a mere side effect. It’s the disrespect for Star Wars, for the 35 years of franchise history that came before that truly pisses me off. The w0ke crap is merely twisting the screws for me. 35 years of history that Disney Lucasfilm deliberately spit on.
Now, have you read any of the EU? I’m simply asking, because I feel like that is an important bridge for understanding where I’m coming from. I have an entire Star Wars timeline in my head that when lined up alongside everything that has been vomited out the past few years stands heads and shoulders above it. There is nothing Disney Lucasfilm could ever do at this point to win me over. Their one chance was at the beginning, if they had simply and openly adapted EU concepts and storylines into a different version that would work for people who did not read all the books. It would not have been perfect for me, but it would have been acceptable because it would have acknowledged all that came before. It would not have invalidated all my years of devotion.
But we know what happened.
Roas is right.
SW died the instant that Krazy KK threw the EU in the shitter.
TCW08 mandos are not mandos. Faverau may be a good director and he may know the films but I feel that he is shackled with some of the biggest trolls in history. Both Cowgirl Dave & Pablo the Hutt are involved in everything that is wrong with SW going back as far as 2005. Both of those fucks refuse to accept any existing canon unless they wrote it.
Episode 7 should have been Vector Prime. That is how you get people involved in a franchise after a long awaited continuation of a franchise.
Someone asked what we did for NOT SW day.
I reinstalled Witcher 3 on my PS4 & played some 6 hours.
I reinstalled Witcher 3 on my PS4 & played some 6 hours.
My record for longest videogame session is 7 hours of Super Mario Wii 🤩
Okay everyone…everyone let’s stop fighting for a minute and just all agree that Krazy KK and current Lucasfilm lack what this South Park sings about:
As Spongebob once say without…
…..Lucasfilm is a company without profits or fans
To the EU, Yes.
I am not joking when I say my Birthday is 5-25-69… I absorbed any and everything SW like a sponge as did all kids my age, I can still remember that Summer all these years later, it was spent pulling weeds, mowing yards anything to earn enough money to go see SW. Don’t get me wrong 2012 was a big FU to the head and everything since has made me angry. Biggest being how stupid people have to be to destroy that which should be impossible to destroy.
No SW is not the same under the KK, but that does not mean there are not peaks of SW here and there, and those things I smile on. I also take them with a grain of salt knowing full well they can be ruined by her in a heart beat. Gina was her attempt to Destroy what Mando had accomplished, which was many fans joy, “you cannot deny it accomplished that”. In all reality Mando could have ended right then and had no spin-off and I would have been thrilled, it was everything good and true to the original Idea of SW Galaxy. Same way I was Happy with Rogue-1.
I did not need more of Mando. Only spin-off I really was hoping for is Ahsoka, the rest would be icing if they were not woke, and there is that word again. Until the problems at Disney are gone it will always be in the back of my head, and I am sure many others (when will this go woke) its very hard to become invested in SW until there is some degree of safety in getting invested again.
The other edge of that sword is all those who say they love SW, if the change happens are people going to be so jaded by what KK and Crew have done, that they will not even give something a chance that could be true to the heart SW? That is why I always hope, but also look for the trap. Think about it thought in closing in on 10 years and Disney has only done 3 things I look at as True Star Wars (TCW, BB “both animated” and Rogue-1) thats it, out of all the things they have done since 2012. Billions of dollars spent on many things including the <cough parks> and I can only find 3 things and 1 of them really was pre-mouse start.
I will always have Hope, for something that has been with me all my life. but I will not be blind to ITS A TRAP so long as KK and the rest of the garbage is there.
@Digicat 73.5 hours Socom Combined Assault, But then again I tried for a Truck back in the 90’s where the one who stayed awake or lasted longest on (DISNEY Small World) would win. I took 44 hours before I couldn’t stand it anymore, @MrDragonbane, wanna guess which radio station and Evil DJ’s set that torture up?
Okay everyone…everyone let’s stop fighting for a minute and just all agree that Krazy KK
This isn’t a fight.
It’s actually what a civilized debate looks like. This is how REAL fans of franchises hash things out. Unlike SJWs we actually talk to one another without malice or ill intent…just aggressive points of view founded in a love for our franchises.
