Is anyone here a fan of visual novels? I find they can do the most interesting stuff out of anyone with storytelling, and I really enjoy when they go Meta with their design. If you haven’t tried one, Doki Doki Literature Club is free on Steam and is a great one to be your first!
I cant stay awake through one. I’ve tried at different times and I, literally, fall asleep every time.
It’s hard for me to play VNs when they are really just that and don’t mix in something else, my thoughts start to wander somewhere else and I have to read the conversation backlog (thank god those exist in many text heavy games these days) because subconscioulsy I think I read and press a button to continue but when my mind fully comes back to the game I have no idea what was said in the last few text boxes. That has nothing to do with that the story bores me or something like that, it just happens when all I do is stare on the screen and press one button to continue the conversation, it can even happen in other games that have long conversations between the core gameplay.
The only one I could play through so far was Punch Line, and HuniePop if you can count that as VN.
Oh yea, I do like Visual Novels. Although they can be hard to get tru sometimes. So which ones did you read then?
I read Tsukihime a long time ago, but only 1 route, didnt know there is more, so gonna check it at some point and then the rest series (Melty Blood that is). Also I think they are going to remake Tsukihime, so that will be interesting.
Fate/Stay Night. All routes. This one is brilliant. There is a lot of anime adaptations, but they just cant do it justice to the VN. So good. Also planning to read Fate/Hollow Ataraxia soon.
Chaos; Head. This one was alright. I do want to read the rest of visual novels from same creators like Steins;Gate (I watched the anime and it was so good, so the VN must be even better), Chaos; Child; Robotics;Notes etc.
I also heard the Everlasting Summer is good, but I didnt read it yet. Its free on Steam btw.
I’m pretty much the same way with visual novels. That’s why I tend to prefer games like danganronpa and 9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors that give me something else to do, like small mini games and puzzle solving.
