LEGO Horizon Adventures Gameplay Reaction, Is This For KIDS ?
I never understood why Lego thought Horizon was going to be a good idea for a LEGO game. Aloy is absolutely not an appealing character for kids. She’s the older sister that knows best.
The world it’s in is also not really an appealing place for kids. Why not go with an actual family friendly, kid friendly game like Astrobot? They tried to make LEGO Horizon Adventures funny & quirky but it is not kid humor, it is quirky millennial “LOL So Random, LMAO, pickle sandwiches, am I right?” kind of humor. So I watched a game play video from IGN that made me realize I was completely wrong about the game. It’s not for Kids.
It’s for adults that are stuck in Arrested Development. The more I watched, the more convinced I was that it was not made for kids. ALL LEGO games do well, Lego knows what they are doing when it comes to making fun games for kids. I have many kids in my family & they ALL love Legos & the ones that are old enough, like the games as well.
This is what I think could have saved the game: Delete Aloy from it’s history & create new Children or young teens to play. Make the game world an explorable three dimensional explorable world, like all the other Lego games. I don’t understand why they went with a Top Down Diablo like camera angle. Kids like to see the world around them in the Lego games. None of the Lego games were ever like this. The other major thing about the game is it’s color pallet. It is dull. It’s mostly earth tones: Brown, Grey, Orange & Green with LOTS of white. These colors don’t pop. Kids don’t see this & go “OOH Colorful” & stay fixated on it. Sure they did blast the saturation to make the Green pop & the little reds & magentas pop, but it’s really not appealing.
Then you have the voice acting & story line. Within the first 10 minutes of the gameplay, kids are introduced to Cultists LOL CULTISTS! In a video game targeting kids. “Mommy what is a cultist?” this is part of the game. Then the father in the game tries to explain to Aloy what a Cultist is & it strangely feels political. This is not a kids game but it’s rated E for Everyone. No.
Thanks for watching.
Thank you for posting this. Always interested in what the kids today have to face. Almost everything is accused of being a cult because it is. There are things like MindSpring, EST or Psy, but there are other names for the same business model. They use very Pink language such as abundance or connecting with you or the space. It’s therapy. They also talk about choice and creating your own reality, which is pretty much what marketers and Hollywood gets to do, which is live in denial and delusion and coverup of the crimes done by their peers and superiors.
Some may not like it, but a lot of fandoms are weaponized into cults like The Swifties or Beyhive or Colin Kapernick. Pop singers and pop figures and jocks are used as False Idols and their fans are treated like a congregation, it is a marketing ploy and the reality of celebrity is that they truly believe they are gods and maybe they are, one like Narcissus.
Also, just notice, that the new age and pagan, secular and atheist cults in marketing and advertising and entertainment will flip it on religions and accuse religions of being cults. They will tell you that you are in a system of control and that you need to be a free thinker and then, hit you with pharma ads and commercials for booze and before you know it, your peers are all junkies and alcoholics and you are left wondering why no one was strong enough to push back.
Anyway, guess what? The cult stuff worked on me, and since that time, a lot of intel I get is thru a certain streamer or show host or DJ or comedian or preacher, but it’s usually some figurehead. That’s how I Normally choose to get information. They say one of the first construct, manufactured icons was George Carlin.
