Does anyone want to read a hit-piece written about YouTuber George Molho, aka George the Giant Slayer.
Amazon Fires Lord Of The Rings Scholar For Trying To Stop Them From Ruining Tolkien?
There is a rumor starting to make the rounds about Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The rumor originates with YouTuber George Molho, aka George the Giant Slayer, and is being touted by Bounding Into Comics among others. According to Molho, eminent scholar Tom Shippey was fired from the production because he wouldn’t stop warning the creators they were “polluting the lore.”
I guess the woke lunatics think inserting their political garbage is not considered “polluting the lore”.
In a video posted earlier this week, Molho claims he’s heard from “three separate sources” that Tom Shippey was not fired, as many had previously believed, from his consulting gig on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for violating a non-disclosure agreement by giving an unsanctioned interview to a fan site. Instead, according to Molho, his “three separate sources” claim Shippey was fired for “weekly” telling Rings of Power showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay that they were “polluting the lore.”
And I am sure most people here have seen that vid.
The entire article attacks George, and the ideas/rumours he is reporting on.
I saw JosiahRises’ vid on this yesterday about Shippey’s firing. Shippey did nothing wrong as far as I’m concerned from what Josiah was saying on that vid; he was just telling these idiots that what they were doing was wrong and not Tolkien.
On a side note I see that ‘Rings of Power’ has a panel on SDCC. I’d LOVE to see how deserted that room is going to be because I bet not many are going to turn up!

Or so many true Tolkien fans show up and ALL the questions during the Q&A deals with how they are “polluting the lore”, disrespecting Tolkein’s legacy, etc.
I’m old enough to remember when the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films were coming out as well as the Harry Potter films. I can remember that the kids that they interviewed after the first films came out and from both fan bases were REAL fans. They were looking forward to the films and that was all they talked about. Even when they interviewed ethnic minority kids they also talked about what they were looking forward to seeing. Not banging on about diversity and inclusion the way those “fans” were on that Amazon special.
This was on the BBC btw.
Anyone see the Lauren Southern video with Destiny on this topic. I wish to heck someone from G+G was on there (the chat was yelling for that BTW). It seems odd to me that one of the “teams” will defend a show tooth and nail no matter what needs to be said. If it’s JUST a show why pick that hill to die on?
I know kids as young as 12, and Elders in their 80’s that are calling this shit show out….. I have Japanese, Mexican, Black, White, Middle eastern that are calling this shit out as well. But most telling, I have Catholic friends, Jewish friends and Baptist “of all corning ware denominations” calling it out.
You go to any of the Rings of Amazon “country” pages on youtube or social media and the fans are calling it a dumpster fire.
Tolkien’s works go beyond “Pop-culture, Geeks, Nerds, or Fans” They are classes in schools, I was speaking last night to a group of teachers and a couple of the English Lit teachers said its still one of the books they let students do reports on and its still some of the most popular ones. I think its in his books there is a little of the reader to be found in it. They were not tarnished by the World of Today (as he wrote it) but a world of fantasy and mystery where our dreams regardless of age could be enjoyed.
Just look at the passion of the fans in denouncing this. Quotes by the Professor….
Their Hearts were bigger than their feet? What the living FUCK…. Does this show not have anyone looking at the Books
The Harfoots were browner of skin, smaller, and shorter, and they were beardless and bootless; their hands and feet were neat and nimble; and they preferred highlands and hillsides.
The Stoors were broader, heavier in build; their feet and hands were larger; and they preferred flat lands and riversides.
The Fallohides were fairer of skin and also of hair, and they were taller and slimmer than the others; they were lovers of trees and of woodlands.
They cannot get even the most minor of details right, one that at least would have made the actors walk more like Humanoids than Penguins SMFH!
What’s with the weird accents from the elves in the last trailer LOL???
Reactions are coming in, and they are NOT good.

I’m amazed that even Entertainment Weekly is basically roasting since they’re one of the ones that were shilling for this from the beginning.
