Lunar Nightmare, Can A 5$ Horror Game Be Any Good?
I have to say the answer is YES! I played the 1st hour of it & the game is solid. It did not have to be this cheap. To be clear, the game is NOT ON SALE, 5$ is the regular price of Lunar Nightmare. The graphics are top notch, I don’t know if they are asset flips from some unity or unreal store, but they are well done. The lighting, the atmosphere, the music all are great. I watched the trailer & it looks like there will be some goofy parts but that’s fine.
There are a lot of things I could overlook for an indie game, especially for this price. There have been 2 jump scares, but they work because they are out of nowhere, they aren’t built up by the music or anything, they just happen. There is also a surprising amount of lore in Lunar Nightmare. Lots of logs with 3-4 paragraph long texts, some are funny others are very resident Evil/ Silent Hill esc.
I do need to point out a very bad design, there are parts of the environment that you can fall onto & you won’t be able to get out of because you can’t jump in the game. It happened to me once & it’s in the highlight of the video. I had to restart from my checkpoint. All in all, even if lets say the game gets worse after this point, hey for 5$ I got my money’s worth. It is a very good game. It is a walking simulator, so keep that in mind. They are good if done well, like Still Wakes The Deep.
