Hello YagamiZero, thank you for your reply. This is an amazing list of mangas that you are currently reading. I appreciate the list. My favorites are Attack on Titan, Boku no Hero Academia, and Black Clover. I have heard of Kingdom but have not read the manga before. I have never heard of Vinland Saga, A Bride’s Story, or Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku. What are these mangas about?

I’ve been reading One Piece for the past few months and started to re-read Attack on Titan to get ready for Season 4.

My Hero Academia – read up to volume 23 where it goes more about villains. Manga is fun, like it so far, but I think author made a mistake telling us that Deku is going to become basically an All Might in the end. We are now just waiting for him to learn to control his powers and that pretty much it. Unless something happens, there is not mystique left.

My Hero Academia Vigilantes – read up to volume 6 where Knuckleduster appears again after being away from story for a while. Kinda nice prequel to the main manga and it doesn’t have that issue that I mentioned about Deku.

Platinum End – read up to volume 11 where they give more exposition and closer to who is going to become god. A bit disappointing manga overall, because it comes from creators from Death Note and Bakuman, but ok.

Dragon ball Super – read up to volume 8 where Goku goes Ultra Instinct. If manga didnt skip plot of the new movies then it would be more better that anime, but right now it’s just nice addition, different takes on events.

Attack on Titan – read up to volume 30 where Eren is getting closer and closer executing his plan it seems. Overall its fantastic manga, very much enjoy it. Cant wait to see its all animated.

xxxHolic – read up to volume 6. There is no overall plot right now, just some separate stories, but there is gonna be or at least they hint at it. Still, I enjoy these kind of manga/anime, kinda like Natsume’s Book of Friends or Mushishi, but it crosses with Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE which I read at the same time and up to volume 6 too. Seems very intriguing, right now main characters just travelling around different worlds to find memories for one the characters.

Hmm, maybe also include Light Novels? They are not the same as manga, but still Japanese literature and we dont have forum for it. :D Well I am just reading 2, so just for more information I will include them:

The Rising of the Shield Hero – read up to volume 14 where they go more about the background of the one of the main characters. I started reading after watching an anime, just couldnt wait for season 2 and 3. :D Writing itself is not that good, but still author manages to do a good world building, characters and story. Its just fun. Gonna check out manga at some point too and watch new seasons of anime when they come out.

My Hero Academia School Briefs – read up to volume 4 (well, there is no more right now). Nothing special just some extra stories that is happening within main manga with some characters. Last one was about school festival.

Right now I’m most current with One Piece. Up to One Piece 983, absolutely been loving the direction of the manga so far. Glad that there isn’t a break next week.

Hello LiamKhan, thank you for your reply. I have read some of One Piece before and think of it as a good manga. I need to read it from beginning to end instead of chapters that are impactful to the story. I also enjoy Attack on Titan and am sad that it is ending this year. I cannot wait for the final season of the anime.

Hello Sajjux, thank you for your reply. I appreciate your list of mangas read as well as your reasons why you like the manga and the current arc. It is much appreciated. I also have been reading Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia, but I did not know that My Hero Academia had spinoff mangas. I will need to check those out when I am caught up with the anime of MHA. I have watched the anime of Dragon Ball Super, but I have not read the manga. Is the manga better than the anime? I have also watched clips on YouTube of The Rising of the Shield Hero and I am slowly getting interested in it. I have never heard of xxxHolic and Platinum End before. I might have to check them out when I have the time.

Hello EdSnark1, thank you for the reply. I look at One Piece as a really good manga to read. However, I cannot give a full opinion because I am behind in the manga currently. I hope that you continue to enjoy the manga and keep us updated on the direction of the manga. What other mangas do you like?

Cant say Dragon Ball Super manga is better overall, because a lot of is stuff is cut off and drawing is a bit repetitive (I mean like a lot of reaction panels) and a lot of text, pages a bit crowded, but new arcs like Goku Black is done a little better so far and Goku doesnt feel so dumb like in anime (I guess because manga has less filler). And btw manga’s story actually goes after anime, but I havent caught up to it yet.

Fruits Basket, Area D, Hellsing, Saiunkoku Monogatari. Some of these are rereads, partial rereads, or new to me. I like reading a variety of different genres, so it really depends on my mood. Sadly, I have to read on my phone although I prefer reading hard copy.

Hellsing (reread): In the top 3 for the vampiric genre of manga, perhaps in the top 10 for the vampire genre across the board. Highly recommend if you want gore and interesting characters and no holds barred action. Also an interesting culmination of the drama and an interesting point is made about the human condition.

Fruits Basket (partial reread): Shojo. Trying to finish it because there is a new anime version getting aired right now. Fruits Basket has some interesting messages for our time today. Tohru Honda’s exploration and rescue of the Soma family from a nebulous curse has all the right feels, great drama, and surprisingly deep.

Area D (new for me kinda): Hardcore shonen. Hot men. Nekkid wimmen. Powers. Battle Royale on an island. Hello, hello, hello.

Saiunkoku Monogatari (partial reread): SM is a shojo period drama with mild romantic elements. People will tell you that the point of the show isn’t the romance, or the multitude of hot guys crowding the screen. They will tell you it’s about a young woman pursuing her dream to take part in politics. They aren’t wrong. Shuurei does achieves her goals through working hard, thinking smart, and playing the political game. But the story is really about hot guys and beautiful classical Chinese music.

I’m reading Gleipnir right now and I’m hooked.

The fan service gets a little too over the top and distracting from the story in Volume 3, but that’s my only complaint.

I’m on Volume 5 now.  The series is a kind of Incredible Hulk / Jekyll & Hyde like story, but there’s a lot more going on that hasn’t been revealed yet.
