Mr. H put out a video that I did not watch, but it said that Matrix was gonna move forward with or without the Wachowskis. The should have really moved on without them. There has to be a fan director out there who could have done a better job. Confession = I did not watch the movie. Like Hazu said, the blue-hair was a tell. Tell me to stay away was the message. Woke does not miss. Woke never fails to ruin and destroy greatness. Didn’t want to voice my real reason, but it just looked ugly. It also came off lazy and sloppy even in the trailer. Makes me want to post plots of other VR novels. Out of all, Quinn may have nailed it, calling the first one a real thought-provoking, cerebral sci-fi cyber thriller, but the sequels went more into adventure/quest territory. He really did point out what was missing. I could not even sit through the previous sequels. How I wish WB was better at scouting writing talent. Matrix could have been so much more in the Metaverse era. Really shameful.

    Matrix Resurrections Review Epic Disaster!

    George The Giant Slayer

The Matrix Resurrections is an epic disaster that brings back Keanu Reeves’ Neo and Carrie Ann Moss’ Trinity. After having dies in Matrix Revolutions the two are resurrected and returned to a new Matrix. They have to reconnect with each other’s reincarnation and then fight their out to freedom. This time the Matrix is even stronger.

Sounds good on paper but it’s a complete mess of a movie. They didn’t bring back Laurence Fishburne’s Morpheus, electing to have another actor play the role. Also, the same is done with the re-skinned Agent Smith as he returns. Yet, there is no Hugo Weaving.

Telling a Matrix movie without bringing back the original crew will mean total failure. As the 4th film in the franchise cannot stand up on its own two feet using nothing but understudies.

I didn’t hate it as much as I thought. However, it was painful to see what she did with this movie. The interview where she had no answer for making this hurt my heart. The first movie has to be in my top 10 of all time. It was smart and made you question everything about existence. When Trin tells Neo, “Neo, I’m not afraid anymore. The Oracle told me that I would fall in love and that that man… the man that I loved would be The One. So you see, you can’t be dead. You can’t be… because I love you. You hear me? I love you……. Now get up!” I get chills. It is a beautiful moment for me. There are so many great things. This one had nothing like that. I do love that Reeves did the movie just to help a friend. That does make me like him even more than I thought possible. Glad you had a good Christmas George! Hope you Happy New Year good sir!

I’m one of the few people who genuinely loved the Matrix Reloaded When I heard about this movie, of course I was skeptical, but a part of me wanted it to be successful I wanted to see that world expanded. I was prepared to accept a certain amount of Wokeness and Intersectional Feminism just give me a good story But I didn’t even get that.. The Graphics were garbage, the Cinematography was offensive, The Story and acting were so bad It made it impossible to enjoy the few good things of the movie that stood out.. It felt like a large budget Student Film done a Month before it was set to come out.. This is sad to me because now the Matrix is truly dead

Add Mike to the list of those that liked it (this movie has already failed so his opinion doesn’t matter; expect a John Boyega-led reboot in five years).
Also, after a rewatch, I’m convinced that Warner Bros. mandated the inclusion of Smith, regardless of the actor returning or not.

Specifically, in the cases of Matrix and Wheel Of Time, you can see the pressure from the PR team to try and spin it like these things are actually good and underrated. No, they sucks. I am tempted to hijack this thread and just post a few plots of VR novels because I was more into the ideas involved in the first movie. I really enjoy fandom and their comments and explanations, but do not want to sit through something that I am not into. This is the power of Cognitive Dissonance, as Roas talks about. Sometimes, it really does seem like they are testing just how much they can lie to you and how bad the crap is they can shovel in front of you.

Missed opportunity: Neo not casually watching Pee-Wee’s Playhouse as Cowboy Curtis says the secret word of the day.
Double missed opportunity: Bugs not using the word in a sentence just before Agents storm their location.
    Still enjoyed it, though.

    Matrix Resurrections Bombs!

    George The Giant Slayer

Matrix Resurrections kills the franchise as the biggest box office bomb of 2021! It is opening in China on January 14th but will that be enough to save the series from a terminal end to the universe.

I dive into what went wrong, where it’s at and I poke a little fun at its expense!

George makes good videos. He talked about Boba Fett the other day and talked about the missing hook and that the hook was needed by episode 3. Will be interesting to see if episode 3 met his expectations. For me, it did not.

I do not know how the Matrix could have been saved, but in the year of the Metaverse, much more effort and critical care should have gone into it. Some people suggested a prequel about programmers and coders. Not sure.

Quinn talks about the Animatrix. Comments from fans are more engaging than any Matrix sequels. Makes one wonder how much good Matrix writing is out there that has never made it to film or anime.

@comicsgate – The Matrix expanded universe has some little gems, but found mixed within a lot of vignettes of dubious canon; see Neil Gaiman’s Goliath.  None of it would work as a feature film, but maybe some of the MXO plotlines could have done well in an HBO Max series.

Resurrections faced a huge uphill battle just from the finality of the ending to Revolutions.  Any sequel would have had to restore the status quo for general audiences while simultaneously avoiding becoming a direct reboot like The Force Awakens, and I think the meta angle was a good effort to thread that needle.  Unfortunately, audiences displayed a near-universal aversion to the film, giving a cacophony of unhelpful complaints on social media which will inevitably lead Warner Bros. to do a full reboot.

The one useful criticism of Resurrections I can offer is that the politics of the real world is completely unengaging.  I understand that it was necessary to show that the first three movies mattered (unlike a certain franchise), but the Io scenes stopped the movie cold for 20 to 30 minutes.  Plus, too much time in the real world pushes the film into Terminator territory, which is not somewhere one wants their franchise to be.
