I’ve started buying up Disney movies on Blu-ray as I don’t trust Disney anymore. It would not surprise me if they decided that some of their classics were too offensive and removed them completely from their streaming service. I don’t want my sons and eventual grandkids to grow up in a world that has never seen or heard of Dumbo, Aristocats, etc.
I started with the ones currently under fire from cancel culture and will go from there.
That said, what titles should be high on my list for purchase?
Aladdin – if you can get one without the edited line in the main song. (The animated one).
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Pete’s Dragon
The Three Caballeros
Song of the South
Treasure Island
Mary Poppins
The Jungle Book
Shifting slightly away from Disney, Studio Ghibli films should be sought after as well, I doubt they are under much danger right now, but definitely good ones for your kids to watch!
I have Aristocats on VHS and DVD 🐱 and Spirited Away on DVD
I’ve never been that into Disney save for a couple of favorites, but I do want to collect all the Studio Ghibli films on physical media
Aladdin – if you can get one without the edited line in the main song. (The animated one)
What edited line??
Here are the lyrics to “Arabian Nights,” as they were on the theatrical release:
Oh, I come from a land
From a faraway place
Where the caravan camels roam.
Where they cut off your ear
If they don’t like your face
It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home.
The revised lines are:
Where it’s flat and immense
And the heat is intense
It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home.
That line.
This is the altered version:
And here it is, as originally presented/on the soundtrack:
😂😂😂 How does the revised version make any sense?? And when was it altered?
I have Aladdin on VHS, so i might be luckey enough to have OG version, but once i get my VHS player working i’ll have to rewatch it and make sure 🤣
As the vid clip shows… it does not.
But in their rush to erase facts of history (to not be called a …phobia), they bent the knee and made the opening lines pure crap.
I bought Star Trek 2 Wrath Of Khan on The Director’s Cut Wibescreen Collection DVD .
