Completed the Fear Street trilogy with 1666, initially seeing the premise of the story i was worried it’d end up turning into some SJW crap, but instead this final horror chapter was a very pleasent surprise, with well written characters, a compelling story, and nothing feeling like it’s being shoved down your throat, see, that’s all you need to make a movie work!
DC animated movies are indeed better, and the Spider-Man animated series (had to re-watch for the channel), was way better than anything put out by Marvel in the past 20 years.
Also rewatched the Hammer Frankenstein movies & Jumanji to review and boy were they a blast, as was re-watching Last Samurai in preparation to review that for November, and it was a blast (I’m a history nerd and in spite of all the wrong history stuff, they still made the film damn entertaining unlike anything made today).
Watched Warm Bodies and Child’s Play 2 with my cats for halloween
Watched Red Notice, it’s pretty good :)
He said The King’s Man was pretty good. I like Kingsman in the past. Enjoyed the first two. I think it’s a good example that spy franchises can succeed outside of James Bond. The direct, Matthew Vaughan, supposedly really wants to do a Cavill Superman movie. After this, he might be the director for a Cavill James Bond?
It is set in World War 1.
In 1902, British aristocrat and Duke of Oxford, Orlando, his wife Emily, and their young son Conrad visit an aid camp in South Africa during the Boer War while working for The Red Cross. Emily is killed during a Boer sniper attack on the camp, causing Orlando, a sworn pacifist, to determine that the world needs someone to head off such conflicts before they occur.
Twelve years later, Orlando recruits two of his servants, Shola and Polly, into his spy network dedicated to protecting the United Kingdom and the British Empire from the approaching Great War. Conrad, eager to fight, is forbidden to join-up by the over-protective Orlando, who speaks with Herbert Kitchener, the leader of the British war effort, to ensure Conrad cannot enlist. Orlando and Conrad also meet Captain Morton, one of Kitchener’s military associates.
Conrad and Orlando ride with Archduke Franz Ferdinand in a parade through Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Conrad saves the Archduke from a bomb thrown by Gavrilo Princip, a rebel intent on sparking a war. Later, however, Princip happens to run into the Archduke’s entourage again, this time succeeding in fatally shooting Ferdinand and his wife.
Orlando’s group, composed mostly of other dignitaries’ socially invisible servants, learn that Princip was part of a plot to pit the German, Russian, and British empires against each other. The group, headed by a mysterious Shepherd, have their own network of agents, including the Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin, a trusted advisor to Tsar Nicholas of Russia.
Rasputin, at the orders of the Shepherd, manipulates Tsar Nicholas by poisoning his young son, and only “curing” him when Tsar Nicholas promises to leave the war. Conrad is notified of Rasputin’s manipulation by his cousin who works under the Tsar. Knowing the Western Allied front will be left vulnerable if Russia leaves, Conrad delivers this information to Kitchener and Morton, who set sail for Russia. Their boat is torpedoed by the Shepherd, apparently killing them both. Word of Kitchener’s death reaches Orlando, spurring him to head to Russia with Shola, Polly, and Conrad to deal with Rasputin once and for all.
At a Christmas party hosted by Conrad’s cousin, Orlando attempts to poison Rasputin but the plan fails. Orlando, Shola, Conrad, and Rasputin fight, the skirmish only ending when Polly shoots and kills Rasputin. At the Shepherd’s orders, Erik Jan Hanussen, an advisor to Kaiser Wilhelm II, sends the Zimmerman Telegraph, hoping to distract Britain and the United States. However, President Woodrow Wilson refuses to join the war without concrete proof. The Shepherd recruits Vladimir Lenin and orders his Bolsheviks to overthrow the Tsar to get Russia out of the war.
Now of age, Conrad joins the British army against his father’s wishes. Orlando meets with King George V, who summons Conrad back to Britain. Conrad sends back a young soldier named Archie Reid in his place, giving him the codename “Lancelot.”
Conrad volunteers for a mission across No-Man’s Land to retrieve information from a British agent, mistaken for a German and caught in friendly fire. Conrad and a small squad venture across No-Man’s Land, but encounter German shock troopers crossing silently from the other side. The troops engage in a silent combat, unable to use firearms because it would set off both sides, killing everyone in the crossfire. Conrad is saved from an armoured soldier when the Tommy who led the mission shoots and kills his attacker, but the ensuing crossfire kills everyone but Conrad. Conrad manages to escape and bunker down in a crater where he meets the spy they were sent to retrieve. Conrad carries him back to the trenches but is mistaken for a German spy when he claims his name is Archie Reid. Conrad is shot and killed; however the information he retrieved from the spy is proof the United States needed to enter the war.
The proto-Kingsman learn President Wilson is being blackmailed with a film of him seduced by one of the Shepherd’s agents, Mata Hari. Orlando locates Hari at the American embassy and recovers her scarf, made from rare wool only found in one specific region of Scotland. Correctly identifying this location as the Shepherd’s base of operations, Orlando, Shola, and Polly head there and fight their way inside.
Morton, Kitchener’s adjutant, is revealed to be the Shepherd. Orlando and Shola kill Morton while Polly recovers the original film negative of Wilson’s seduction, allowing his country’s forces to mobilse.
A year on after the war, Orlando purchases the Kingsman Tailor Shop as a front for his organisation. Orlando, Shola, Polly, King George, and Archie Reid form the original Kingsman, each assuming a codename from the King Arthur legend to honor Conrad.
In a mid-credit scene, Erik Jan Hanussen introduces Lenin to a young Adolf Hitler.
Movie time with my cats 🐱🐱
Watched Rise Of The Guardians – very cute movie
And The Mitchells vs The Machines – this is absolutely hilarious!!
Rise Of The Guardians is one of the best Christmas movies ;)
Watched The French Dispatch, not bad at all. Very entertaining. A movie by Wes Anderson (The grand Budapest hotel, isle of dogs) with an absolute superstar casting.
This just dropped today. Dino-cowboys + Chris Pratt + Jeff Goldblum = Universal getting my money!
the 2nd movie was so disappointing … So i dunno… I will not get hyped just yet… but hope it’s better…
There’s only one Jurassic movie.
Like how many times can we possibly learn the “Life finds a way” lesson?
Watched The Adam Project, has a very cute and fun story, and absolutely loved the ending 😁
@DigiCat Thanks for mentioning this one. I read the plot yesterday and was a bit confused. Watching the trailer after you said it and it looks awesome and meta. Ryan with this one and Free Guy is becoming the actor of our times. I did not like some of his other ones, but Free Guy and this look solid.
Time flies.
A time-traveling pilot teams up with his younger self and his late father to come to terms with his past while saving the future.
In a dystopian 2050, pilot Adam Reed steals his time jet and escapes through time on a rescue mission to 2018. However, he accidentally crash-lands in 2022 instead where Adam meets his 12-year-old self who is struggling with the recent death of their father Louis in a car accident. Adam reluctantly enlists his younger self’s help to repair his jet and reveals that he is looking for his wife, Laura, who was supposedly killed in a crash while on a mission to 2018.
Adam is chased to 2022 by Maya Sorian, the leader of the dystopian world and her lieutenant Christos who attempt to apprehend Adam and take him back to 2050. The Adams are rescued by Laura who reveals that she had escaped an assassination attempt on her and was left stranded in the past. Laura had learned that Sorian had traveled back in time and altered the past in order to give herself control of time travel and the future. Laura urges Adam to travel back to 2018 and destroy time travel, which was created by his father Louis, in order to set things right and save the future. Sorian attacks and Laura sacrifices herself so that the two Adams can escape. Chased by Sorian and with only enough power left for one time jump, Adam and his younger self jump back to 2018.
Hollywood has forgotten why movies are so special.
Modern woke/pretentious Hollywood no longer promotes Escapism and Movie Magic.
The hijack our favorite franchises, deconstruct and destroy the Legacy characters, and then insert their own bs.
As a result, Escapism has become compromised.
Year after year the pretentious hacks and woke activists that run the industry pat themselves on the back with their pretentious award ceremonies like The Oscars. The Oscars, The Golden Globes… all these award shows are nothing but pretentious ceremonies made by pretentious hacks for pretentious hacks.
I made this video to celebrate and promote what Hollywood won’t anymore- a little bit of Escapism and Movie Magic.
I hope you enjoy. Hail Geeks and gamers
Thank You.
Hollywood is Destroying What People Love About Movies.
Hollywood is run and ruled by pretentious hacks and woke activists who infiltrate and hijack our favorite franchises, destroy the Legacy characters, and then proceed to insert their own agendas.
As a result, Escapism has become compromised.
Additionally, here after year they sit in their award shows and pat themselves on the back. Shows like The Oscars are nothing but pretentious shows by pretentious hacks for pretentious hacks.
Hollywood no longer promotes Escapism and Movie Magic.
So I made a little video celebrating and promoting what Hollywood doesn’t anymore- a little bit of Escapism and Movie Magic.
No commentary. Just enjoy the visuals and the music.
Thank you.
I have a large media/movie collection. There are MANY good movies out there to watch. They were just all made prior to about 2010. 2010 is when they went 100% woke, 100% of the time.
In all honestly my favorite movies are from the 70’s/80’s/90’s and much of collection lays within that timeframe.
