Here is another 4K trailer restoration from the original 35mm?
To think Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain, which was based on this film due to racism or something. Song Of The South story took place in Georgia.
Piece of Americana memory-holed and buried. American roots cut out by the communists.
    ——————————-
Synopsis: Little Johnny is taken to his grandmother’s plantation where he meets Uncle Remus and is guided by his stories about Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Brer Bear (which are shown in animation). Johnny finds friendship with a local girl, Ginny Favers, but is bullied by her cruel brothers. When he is accidentally gored by a bull, it takes more than Uncle Remus to save him. His parents must reunite, creating a happy family once more.

At the 20th Annual Academy Awards ceremony in 1948, the Academy Board of Governors unanimously voted to bestow an Honorary Academy Award to James Baskett “for his able and heart-warming characterization of Uncle Remus, friend and story teller to the children of the world.” Upon receiving an Academy Honorary Award for his performance in this film, James Baskett became the first African-American male performer to receive an Academy Award.

The last few years, I’ve been trying to catch up on some of the older Disney live action films even though I’m not a massive fan of live action (and Disney live action for that matter). They’d have to be VERY entertaining in order for me to actually take a interest. One of my favourites of late has been ‘Treasure Island’ since I love the book and was finally able to watch it a couple of years back because of D+. It’s a pity they don’t even have ‘Song of the South’ on it not even in the UK. I wish I had gotten it when it was being released on VHS in the 90’s…

The Director Eggers did The Northman. I was just OK with that movie, but did like some of the dream styles of the director, like a psychedelic style in that movie.
Not sure about this next one though.
Also, I do not like the release date. It should be Halloween, Oct 31., instead.

Some fans say they like A24. Tend to agree. Just in the sense of the look of it. Same with Vertical if Vertical is a thing. Vertical and A24 look like they have the desire for effort in film.

    https://variety.com/2024/film/trailers/heretic-trailer-hugh-grant-a24-1236046900/

Don’t take your faith for Granted. A24 has released the first trailer for its latest horror film “Heretic,” which stars Hugh Grant as a man who is visited by two young Mormon missionaries (Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher) who he then puts through an intense series of psychological games.

“I won’t keep you if you wish to leave, but I want you to choose which door to go through based on your faith,” Grant states in the trailer, writing “BELIEF” and “DISBELIEF” on two doorways. Nothing gory follows in the footage, but a miniature labyrinth seems to have reached life-sized dimensions as one missionary gets lost in a wooden maze at the end of the trailer.

    The Rock and Chris Evans.
J.K Simmons makes a good Santa.

They are trying for some kind of Spy Kids Christmas movie? Jermy’s favorite guy The Rock. I am kind of at a loss with that guy. How would you cast The Rock?

If they would have waited, he probably would have been good in a Men In Black movie, if they didn’t jump the gun with Hemsworth and that other gal. Maybe as a race-swapped Punisher. Maybe Colossus or Juggernaut or KingPin. Tbh, I’ve never been into Dwayne or his movies. Not sure why. I think he’d be good if they ever made movies of Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia, as Franks or Owen or another character.

Johnson seems to really be trying to do that family role thing, as opposed to action and sci-fi. I do wonder if he would consider thriller or horror? He’s an imposing guy with a great voice, but I don’t know any roles I’ve liked him in. I think he’d be good in some kind of military movie, as a sergeant type figure, or as a football coach. I actually think he’d make a good Vader with his size, or a Darth Bane.

What kind of sucks as a man is that by the time you have your chops, you might have 10 years. By 40s and 50s, the male is already in catabolic phase.

Nosferatu presents as an excellent period piece.

A24 makes good low-mid budget films and they do compensate by focusing on story and character development. X (2022) is a credible erotic horror/thriller entry which features a pre-Wednesday Jenna Ortega and the criminally underrated lead actress Mia Goth. It’s worth a look.

Red One looks like a family friendly entry in the traditionally R-rated Christmas Action genre which has been picking up steam over the last few years. For those so interested I’d recommend Fatman (2020) and Silent Night (2023) – the latter is quite unique.

I did not end up seeing that one, so appreciate the Silent Night suggestion. Heard that it was almost a silent movie, which is interesting and something different. Like, a silent action movie. It’s interesting because that is how things began, with Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. I think I’d like to see the silent movie come back as a genre, just as an exercise for filmmakers. The task would be use instrumental music, text slides and then movement action shots to tell your story. I don’t care how long or short they are. Only reason is that they were so creative with no budget back then.

The Union | Mark Wahlberg + Halle Berry | Official Trailer | Netflix

Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry star in THE UNION. Only on Netflix August 16.

Mike (Mark Wahlberg), a construction worker from Jersey, is quickly thrust into the world of super spies and secret agents when his high school sweetheart, Roxanne (Halle Berry), suddenly comes back into his life and recruits him on a high-stakes U.S. intelligence mission.

    #320518

I’m so tired of sounding like a neckbeard complaining about shit, but how many girl bosses were they able to fit into that Union movie? Looks solid enough, but I’m just so tired of “the message”.

Going to take a few years before we start getting stuff that allows men to be men and women to be women with all this societal bullshit that’s been going on. And that’s if the film industry survives at all.

    #320527

Tuna, agree with you. Basically, your choices are: which woke piece of propaganda am I gonna see, the girl boss, the race swap, the gender swap, etc. Every single thing created by the west has been tainted by Larry Fink and Ari Emanuel, who are using predictive programming for The Great Replacement.
This next movie might be good for those who are into giving out Green Cards to eastern spies. People like Arnon Milchan and Jonathan Pollard and The Kushners would love it.

This looks good. I had it on mute, so guess they chose the music wrong, which made it cringe. I like the overall look of it. Shows like this, like Shogun, like House of The Dragon, are mastering mixing those grand shots of what the landscape and architecture looks like, mixed with scenes of people, that are probably shot just in a room somewhere. What bothers me a bit is that shows like these are better than what we tent to Expect from Epic Fantasy such as: Willow, Wheel of Time, Acolyte, Rings of Power, etc. It’s an odd experience to compare and contrast these things. Anyway, I like that stuff out of Rome. There was a good comic called Alix Senator that I liked, that would make a good Rome show like this.

    Could be another City Slickers.
I have heard that Japanese gardeners are some of the best in the world.

This is really a taste of what one faces in business or politics. Gotta be able to take it on every single day.

Famed aesthetician Hope Goldman’s skincare business faces sabotage when rival Angel Vergara opens a boutique across the street. Aided by friend Jordan, Hope seeks to uncover who’s trying to ruin her reputation.

Not a movie, but a show. I like stuff like this. Wild West but spooky and odd and mysterious things are happening. Josh Brolin is in the show.
It’s an Amazon Prime show. This would be an example of a good streaming service show. Also, might be worth watching to compare it to the money spent on The Acolyte, so that you can compare professionalism in crafting a show.

Really trippy show. Mind-bending sci-fi. Reminds me a bit of GroundHog Day or Edge of Tomorrow or The Five Times I Met Myself. It’s a bit slow and goes on a bit too long, but I stuck with it.
