So I saw Alien: Romulus today and well…just do yourself a favor and watch/re-watch the first two movies. I’m thoroughly convinced they’ll never come close to topping those…not in my lifetime anyways.

Upload: There was a really good episode of Black Mirror with the whole digital upload afterlife thing which in itself was a spin on the Matrix theme. Still, might be worth a look.

Kraven: The Hunter looks surprisingly good.

This popped up on my feed today:

Speaking of Terminator, an old Kyle Reese is in the movie trailer below. He was also Johnny Ringo from Tombstone. Hard to see him like this, in what’s basically another Cocaine Bear.
I am totally down for animation at this point. Also, after seeing Snow White footage and X-Men ’97 and the forever waiting, I think it’s time for Hollywood to STFU and bring on the Ai. Ai has shown me the end of Hollywood just because people in general have kind of fallen off since the 1950s. I am ready for the Ai and say, bring on the Ai.
Saw one good comment how writing used to exceed tech by about 30 years and now, the opposite is true, meaning the tech is there, but modern writing is lacking. Ai shows me gorgeous glamorous people from the 50s and then, I’ll scroll, and it’ll be like the goblin they got for SuperGirl in The Flash, or Ezra Miller or Elliot Paige from Umbrella Academy or any number of other dog faced pony soldiers that are an absolute eyesore. And no, I don’t want to see geezers like Arnold or Jamie Lee Curtis anymore. The big screen is NOT a retirement home. You no longer have it, let it go, and there’s the door.
Hollywood is over. There will always be room for good movies, but I just don’t think they have what it takes anymore to cast well and write well and execute well.

Robert Meyer Burnett says he can’t wait to watch this movie. He calls it “body horror.” I would encourage him to read a sci-fi novel by Daniel Suarez called Change Agent. Think he’d enjoy it. Lots of future concepts. Now, they are talking religion and sex. For than, maybe an adaptation of Stranger In A Strange Land.

Synopsis: Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You, only better in every way. You should try this new product, it’s called The Substance. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. With The Substance, you can generate another you: younger, more beautiful, more perfect. You just have to share time — one week for one, one week for the other. A perfect balance of seven days each… Easy right? If you respect the balance… What could possibly go wrong?

Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself?
You. Only better in every way.
You’ve got to try this new product.
    It changed my life.

    THE SUBSTANCE.

An explosive new film from Coralie Fargeat, starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid. A MUBI Release.

Yeah, I saw his recommendation of The Substance during his appearance on the Film Threat panel discussing the Alien franchise – looks interesting. That guy is extremely knowledgeable and well-spoken.

In his examination of what made the first (Alien) film the best he referenced the original story as being one of the best examples of Lovecraftian horror.

Thinking of revisiting Event Horizon (1997) after said discussion…very disturbing movie.

That Film Threat panel was strong. Gore and Burnett with that cast do a very good job.

Didn’t know Zoe Kravitz and Channing were a couple. Idgaf about nepotism, as long as quality is there, but once it slips, then there’s an issue. Just kind of depends on the situation.

Movie looks awful and I despise Ron Perlman, but the message works. No e-girls. No Thots. Nothing but trouble. Also, like good horror has sometimes, it involves sex in a wrong way, so that is a classic of the genre. It’s interesting to see stories about the digital age.

A new father struggling with fatigue, emotional insecurities, and a failing marriage joins a dating app, only to swipe right on what may be an inhuman presence.

Coached by his over-sexed friend Eddie, Chris, a new father, joins the StarCrossed dating app “just to see what’s out there,” and eventually comes to the conclusion he should probably rekindle things with his estranged wife. But when he matches with Adra, a seductive young woman with a mysterious past, his curiosity gets the better of him, and he finds himself getting sucked into her world even as his own life falls apart. As Chris, Eddie, and Adra’s stalker, Dr. Zephyr circle her, Adra’s power grows, finally revealing her harrowing true nature.

“My favorite horror thrillers are ones that have something to say about human beings, and in Succubus, Daniel has crafted a chilling metaphor for the clutch that screens have on us,” said Shout! Studios’ Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Originals, Jordan Fields. “This will disturb and resonate, like the best of the genre.”

Hanna said, “Succubus is a first-and-foremost a wild and brazen mystery-horror film about the most terrifying series of events that could ever befall a guy who let his nether regions do the thinking for him. But beyond the body horror, which is ample, it also comments on the very real vampire that’s sucking us all dry — our screens. As our hero is drawn by an online siren into her dark yet enticing world, he’s forced to face all he’s left behind, his whole real, meaningful life beyond the glowing rectangle he keeps in his pocket, and try to find a way back to it.”

Perlman and other actors like Mark Hamill have gone off the deep end. I’ll still give ’em credit for “good” acting until they do something exceedingly stupid.

That Blink Twice trailer immediately impressed as just another entry in the recent rash of cult-themed horrors – Midsommar (2019) and The Menu (2022) being a couple of other examples.

The plot of this seems a little far fetched: How far would you go to save a stranger? Hayden Panettiere stars in this one. She was so beautiful in Heroes

    #323118

Good feedback. Blink Twice also like Get Out by Jordan Peele maybe. I never saw any of the cult themed movies. I only post stuff that kind of stands out that I’d maybe see. I seldom watch much of anything. I watch the reviewers more than the actual movies.

Loved that show Heroes for the first two seasons. Hayden married a Klitchko brother. The brother of her former husband is the mayor of Kiev right now. He’s a leader I would’ve believed in. Some people say the current Hayden is the gymnast Livvy Dunne. Kind of carries the mantle of that type of girl.

Guess this next movie below is another attempt at a Sound of Freedom type movie of trafficked kids facing adversity. I never saw SlumDog, but heard it was one of the best all time movies.

Inspired by true events, City of Dreams follows Jesús, a young Mexican boy whose dreams of becoming a soccer star are shattered when he’s trafficked across the border and sold to a sweatshop making fast fashion in downtown Los Angeles. Thrust into a world of exploitation and despair, he’s forced to adhere to the grueling work schedule dictated by El Jefe, a boss who promises freedom for those who complete their quotas. Despite Jesús’ hellish existence, he finds solace in Elena, a girl who was similarly betrayed and sold into slavery. When she goes missing and another co-worker Carlitos is severely beaten, Jesús realizes that the only way to save himself and the others is to fight back, even if it costs him his life.

Last film I saw Hayden in was Disney’s ‘Dinosaur’ back in 2000 (very underrated film even if the Carnators were mutated to make them more intimidating lol but maybe I’m being biased because I love dinos lol. The destruction of Lemur Island still brings a tear to my eyes even after more than twenty years.). Yeah I’m old enough to remember when she was a child actress. Damn I’m old lol. I always thought she was adorable and still seems like a nice person now.

Take pride in being a little higher in the years, it just means you’re not retarded!

Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg— a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.

Peter Jackson presents a groundbreaking journey back to Middle-earth through the eyes of legendary director Kenji Kamiyama.
#LOTR The War of the Rohirrim – only in theaters Christmas.
