Toronto is the Manchester United of hockey. Biggest brand in the world but hasn’t been good in a long, long time. Even though they have a great team

The Maple Leafs have shown that when they act as a team (not as stars), they can beat anyone.

But once they get their egos going, then the team first becomes secondary.

And they currently have the longest cup drought of any team. They can’t seem to catch a break.

They are stuck on Number.13 Stanley Cups.

I recall when a group(s) were trying to get another team into Ontario.  One in Toronto, another wanted on in Hamilton.

 

Naturally, the Maple Leafs objected to the idea – on marketing/home territory grounds.  But most likely because they did not want a new team close to their fans base winning the Stanley Cup before they can win another one.

 

And after how close the expansion Vegas Golden Knights came to winning it – in their first year!  No wonder they are so scared.
