Didn’t find a thread for this yet so here it is, discuss all about the Nintendo Online service and its NES and SNES library. My main reason for making this thread, Nintendo Japan just released a trailer for the next update, the japanese (and me too since I have a japanese and a PAL client for both systems) are getting the original Shin Megami Tensei, Donkey Kong Country and Gun Dec.
Now Gun Dec is just the japanese name for Vice: Project Doom which we already got in the west, and of course we won’t get SMT, so I’m very curious to see what we will be getting, for sure we will get DKC. The service will be update on July 15th, I expect Nintendo America and Nintendo Europe to release trailers in a few hours
And just when I posted this the US trailer popped up in my sub box, we are getting DKC of course, but also, uh, Natsume Championship Wrestling and The Immortal, eh? Japan reigns supreme.
Natsume Championship Wrestling is actually pretty great and easily the best wrestling game we got stateside on the SNES while Japan had nearly a dozen awesome 16bit representations of the “sport”, including many installments of the Fire Pro series.
I just don’t like Wrestling.
Donkey Kong Country, while I don’t think it was the first video game I ever played (the memory of my first has been lost to time), it’s the game that actually made me pursue gaming as a hobby. A hobby I’ve enjoyed for something like 25 years now.
I personally find its sequel to be the better game (meanwhile DKC3 I honestly feel is better forgotten), but it’s difficult to overstate my investment in the first DKC. Definitely going to enjoy playing the brains out of this when it releases.
Never heard of Immortal but that dude on the cover looks like he’s got a story that needs to be heard. May check it out.
The AVGN gave that game its own episode, so…
