Participate in society and your community (goes for me too)

I don’t EVER use Facebook outside of a rare occasion to see what’s shaking in my subdivision.  And I do that from a BS account and in a secure manner.

But I have been watching it lately and it makes me sad.  I see openly one of the problems with people/society at this point.

You have people in this private group being fairly pissy, obnoxious and rude to others.  BUT THESE ARE THEIR NEIGHBORS!

I am floored to see people who live right next to each other whine at one another on Facebook like they are miles apart and are anonymous on the internet.

People should know their neighbors, and talk to them and help them.  You don’t have to like them all but this strange frame of mind where we think we are in separate worlds from each other when you are just a few doors down in mind blowing to me.

People used to have to be part of their community because without everyone helping each other out your chances of success were low.  But now we can have our groceries and supplies delivered to our door.  And then we sit and “interact” with the world disconnected from other humans.

I am also to blame for this.  I tend to keep to myself.  It’s not that I would not help someone, I always try when I see the need, but I have failed to be apart of what’s around me actively.  I see now this is a terrible mistake on my part.

We have to all leave our bunkers and interact, help, depend on and just be human.  Is there risk to that?  Sure.  But attempting to live on a digital island seems to have horrible consequences.
