Just spent a good 30 mins setting up a new thread with links using text mapped over the link, and when I hit submit it never posted.

Feels like there may be a problem putting in links with text mapped over them. Dunno.

I have had that happen a couple of times.  Some hyper links are not taking and will remove the whole post.

learned this the hard way back when I used ATS/BTS forums and had 2-6 pages deleted and gone.

In the meantime if you plan on writing any kind of long form post.  Please open notepad, and pre write all of your work in a Note pad.  Save it and when ready copy and paste into the forum here.  This way if it does mess up, you have a copy that is ready to go and try again.  You won’t lose all that work and train of thought.

The amounts of good work I have had just go poof taught me the values of Note pad!

I would say the issue is somewhere with the links being posted.. The site doesn’t seem to link some hyper links. The insert/edit link button I think might be a little buggy.   Did you use that embedding feature or just post the link Ctrl C Ctrl V?

Before hitting submit, select all text and copy to clipboard, preferably  in “text” view (to also save the embedded formatting).  That step has saved me multiple times here on this site.  Sometimes if you hit the back button in the browser you will find your pre-submitted post intact, but not always.

Initially the # of links here was limited to 3. Unfortunately, no FAQ told us that; so I had to learn the same way you did, by reporting the disappearing post and discovering it was because of that limit. When I reported the issue, the limit was increased to 5.

Another thing I’ve learned, if you edit a post too many times, it could disappear in the same way.

In a round about way, we can use these quirks to our advantage.  If we want to delete a post, all we have to do is add too many links on purpose, or edit it over and over and — poof, it will disappear.  So technically, we can “delete” our posts. :p

See that?  You and I are on the same wave length and posted the same thing at the same time!

Jinx you owe me a coke WuBeeBee!  (Either good morning or good night, I get up very early to tend to my outside animals and get some quite time in the house)

Yup, I’m a night owl, it will be “good night” soon.

I read in another thread that the amount of links you can post at once is limited, unfortunately the website won’t tell you that you have too many links and just deletes everything.

It’s happened to me several times.

Oh. I’ve done tried that for a few of these moments. Problem is, when I re-paste it…nothing appears either.

At least three times I’ve had to retype entire post replies. Good thing I’m a fast typer.

I’ll probably try again in a day or so, because it has to do with the Summer Anime season, so I want to start that thread before the first new shows air.

It would  help to have a Preview Post function to see if things are working before hitting the submit button.

          This.

I always like Preview because it’s also a good way to edit a post.

There is also a function that prevents identical posts.  I once actually saw an error message here that told me as much — how helpful!  Too bad all the pre-set “errors” aren’t captured and returned with an explanation like that.

This 3rd-party software package is proving every point I’ve had about using them myself — which is no reflection on the G+G dev team, they didn’t write it.

Anyway,  sometimes I have to change a few words after copy/pasting, to pass the duplicate-post test.

Oh, one more thing: I’m pretty sure there is a word limit, and maybe even a numbered list limit.  Once I was having issues posting a rather lengthy editorial (I think it was the Twitter vs. Parler thread) and none of my tricks were working.

So I broke up my post into two, which worked; however, that work-around forced me to split a numbered list, so I can’t say it worked perfectly.
