there are 2 novels set after the Thrawn trilogy. Spectre of the past and visions of the future I believe. They follow that story on.
Otherwise I’d realistically just find any other trilogy and dive in.
Don’t start the later novels about the kids until much later.

I respectfully disagree. The Hand of Thrawn Dualogy concludes the first grand arc of the EU. They are meant to be read at the end before moving on to The New Jedi Order arc. To read those before reading everything else in between is literally skipping the entirety of the EU after the Thrawn Trilogy.
No one will ever convince me that reading a series out of order is a good thing when it’s possible to read it in proper order. Those of us having read the EU during its original printing had to suck it up when books came out out of order in the timeline, but now I do not believe there is a valid excuse if you are truly wanting to experience the grand story of the EU from start to finish.
